    WHAT is that!?

Um... I have NO cle what this is. She is destined for freezer camp but should I be worried about contaminating my heard? She is about 6 wks old. Still with all her siblings.

Worms and is this a healthy liver?

OK, I butchered a few older Silver Fox (approx. 6mo) that I was growing out specifically for their hides (we didn't consume the meat), and of the few that I went ahead and gutted to check their health I found a few things... These are pretty obviously worms that are in the colon with the little...

Went ahead and tried for another litter...

Some of you may remember the litter I lost, well... a month ago now, due to cold weather and a poor nest? I thought long and hard about why I lost that litter and felt that it could have been avoided had I checked on her more consistently. I heard lots of people having litters at colder temps...

Begginer's luck has run out... lost a whole litter :(

Sometimes things are just not on your side... We have been having one of the mildest winters in history up here in interior Alaska. On a normal year we would be seeing temperatures around -20 to -30 right now and very rarely coming above 0. I would normally not even think about breeding a rabbit...

Meat from rabbit with Bordetella safe to eat?

I went ahead and advertised my first two litters of Silver Fox and sold several before butchering any. I am needing the cage space so I decided to butcher the three blue bucks that were 15 1/2 weeks old. I now understand what people say about older bucks being a little more difficult  ...

    Agouti with little white

Is it possible to have an Agouti rabbit that has very minimal white on it's belly? There is a little bit of white hair on the lower belly between the back legs, but non around the eye or on the inner ear... I was under the assumption that this would be a Gold Tipped Steel if it didn't have the...

Doe screaming after buck falls off??

Has anyone else every had a doe who screamed as the buck was falling off? I put one of my does in with the buck last night and everything seemed to go normal, but while the buck was falling off the doe screamed! SO high pitched it hurt my ears  After that she would run around every time...

    Rabbits and chickens... Together?

I have someone that I have been in discussion with about whether or not they could keep rabbits in the same area as the chikens (colony in the coop type setting in believe) Any body ever done this... Pros and cons?

    Hair loss between shoulders

I have a Silver Fox doe that has a strange patch of sparse hair between her shoulders right behind her ears. At first I though it was from the buck pulling a bit out from breeding, but it hasn't started to grow back and is slowly getting bigger. Her ears are totally clear so I wasn't thinking it...

    Large droppings...?

So one of my Silver Fox does that has a litter that is almost two weeks old now, has been passing very large bunny berries that don't fall through the 1/2 x 1 inch bottom cage wire. I noticed a small amount before she had her litter and I thought that maybe it was just some of her cecotropes...

    Why!?

Why is it that the babies we know should be culls end up finding their way deepest into our hearts! This little thing is SO cute!!! I am contemplating keeping her and starting my own line of VM Silver Fox. How cute would a whole litter of these be!!

    First litter of Silver Fox!

We finally have our first litter of full Silver Fox bunnies!!! :D I had to be out of town overnight last night so the hubs was taking care of them. He wasn't comfortable counting so I did when I got home and we have four blue and three black from a black doe and blue buck :) don't worry...

    could this be mites?

A friend sent me these pictures of her neighbors rabbit... looks to me like it could be mites, but I'm not sure. I asked if it's ears were clear or had the black crustiness, usually found with ear mites, but I didn't get an answer back. unfortunately I don't have any other info, but I was just...

    My husbands job is horrible!

OK, not REALLY... My Husband works maintenance as an electrician. There is a LOT of down time during his days at work. The guys in his shop are always working on side projects and they do a lot of cooking. They have one large meal a week that they go all out on and are usually cooking things...

    17 less mouths to feed!

WHEW!!! Well, we put off butchering the first of our meat buns long enough and finally got to it yesterday. I was tired of going through SO much food! There were 9 at 12wks and 8 at 11wks. The largest 12wk old was 5lbs 1 ounce live, and I forgot to weigh it after dressing it out  , but...

Is this a "pinched" hind end?

This is one of my Silver Fox does, 4mo old. I know she is not posed 100% correctly, but we are still working on that. She likes to move about. When I flipped her over I didn't notice that her feet showed a V so maybe she just has a narrow hind end? It just looks "off" to me and I'm wondering if...

What color would you call this?

I am pretty sure that it is a Gold Tipped Steel as it has a few siblings that are, but it seems to change in different light settings... it is a meat mutt that is about 8 1/2 weeks. I have another litter that is closely related and the GTS in that litter are obvious that's what they are... this...

    Litter size or kit size

Would you prefer to keep a doe that produces high numbers in her litters of average sized kits or a doe that produces a few less kits but has nice milk production so the kits grow bigger faster till weaning? The larger number litter is two days older but a few ounces smaller. These are meat...

    Some hair hygene questions

OK, first question: I have a fawn colored NZ meat mutt that seems to be shedding. He has a very rough look to his hair and when I pet him there are tufts that pull out like on my dog (German Shepherd). Not to mention the hair all over his cage! Is there something I can do for him? I...

Just curious what you all think...

This is my 3m old blue Silver Fox buck "Pete" I am still trying to figure out what is good and what is not. I do like him and just want honest evaluation from those who know more that me. I know pictures aren't the best for judging but do your best. I only got a good side shot before he moved...
