opal kits will have white bellies where as solid blue or steels will be all dark at birth. Steels will start to get the triangles at the base of the neck when the fur starts to come in
hmmm I've done a bit since I last checked in here. I have been growing a full nursery tray to feed each day. Using 1.5lbs of wheat and getting over 8.5lbs of fodder withholding water in the last 12 or more hours before weighing.
I am using it only on a few rabbits since my production is...
a chin can carry rew. But a rew cannot be a chin because the loci is the same for the chin and rew gene. It can be an agouti though and chance is good you could get castors. Blue chins (which is not recognized), opals, but only if the buck does carry dilute.
With the limited info above...
I bop a rabbit that bites..but it wouldn't bite again after that. I just plain don't tolerate a rabbit that comes at me with teeth any more than I would a dog that does. It's only size that is the difference..next time it could be a kid
Rabbits that are getting fodder are getting about 1/2 1/2 right now. Still with pellets but with a chunk of fodder in there too. Hope to get my new trays soon and get something set up in the barn. This growing in my kitchen is getting old lol
