I figured it wasn't worth the risk at this point, just wanted to check. I would like to breed for heat tolerance eventually. Right now I just don't have enough rabbits to risk the loss. I'd love to know how your heat tolerance project goes MSD
Haha, I just have a small rabbitry. . 2 breeding pairs (soon to be trios) and a grow out pen.
I didn't build the original frame. When we bought the property it was here, so we added wire and it was originally 3 cages for our very first rabbits. When I built wire hanging cages, I removed the...
I have 4 acres :)
I move it slowly and they will move along with it, I just pay attention to where their feet are. I don't have to lift it off the ground in order for it to roll so their feet aren't in a lot of danger. I am thinking of just tossing a board in there while I move it so I don't...
On the same topic.. is it safe for the does to breed when it's consistently over 90 degrees and some days over 100? I have been giving all mine a break for the summer but I'm not sure when I can/should start back up. I've only got 3-4 campers left in the grow out pen depending on whether I keep...
Today we finally changed out the wire on the bottom of the grow out pen so it can be used as a bunny tractor!
Here it is... They love it. :) (Feel free to share your bunny tractor pics as well!)
She's a Satin :)
Well her pet home fell through so she's here a bit longer. I don't know if I should try to breed her again or not. It's been about two months since the last attempt.
That's a great idea, Marinea. I will keep an eye out for some! Do you have any issues with them moving around a bunch in the cage? I'd think the ceramic would be heavier and I worry about little toes getting caught under the tile if it gets shifted.
hehe yeah, I need to order some real resting boards. I took out the ratty pieces of cardboard that are acting as resting places until I get some actual resting mats, took the photos, then put in some new cardboard. Unsightly but functional, for now.
Thank you guys! I'm glad you like them. I looove our setup too. Hubby did such a great job. Did I mention it's built mostly from free materials?? :D we paid for the roofing stuff but the rest was freeeeeeee (my favorite price!)
I thought I would share some pictures since I haven't in a while.
One of the 5 week old kits.. What color is this? Mom is REW and dad is copper. Some of the babies look like dad, some like mom, and three like this.
Californian doe.. she still doesn't have a name. She's due May 14.
