    Nest box sizes

Just curious what size nest boxes any of you use for your Calis? I feel like the one I made is on the small side even though it's considered a medium-large size nest box according to your average site that sells nest boxes.

    Pregnant or overweight doe?

18 days ago, I had my doe and buck together, in which she was very receptive, and the buck had multiple goes at her, but never finished with falling off to the side. I put them back together the next day, in which she wasnt receptive at all, and wanted nothing to do with him. Since then, shes...

    Timothy or Alfalfa?

I've heard mixed opinions on this topic and was just wondering what some of you thought/do. What's a better hay to feed a pregnant doe? Alfalfa or Timothy? I know Alfalfa shouldn't be fed to adult rabbits but have heard that its OK and beneficial to feed this when the doe is pregnant. Any...

Tanning furs in warm to hot weather

How do you go about tanning your furs when the weather starts getting warm. In the winter, I have no worries of having my furs salting out in the shed for the 1-2 weeks as for the most part it stays pretty cool. I'm worried that when I start tanning in the spring and summer that I may have some...

Where to put the new rabbit tractor?

I just recently built a smaller rabbit tractor, 5 feet by 3 feet, and am hopefully going to use it for the first time tommorow. My plan is not to have rabbits live in the tractor full time, but on nice days, selectively place 1 or 2 rabbits in at a time to mess around on the ground. A majority...

Keep collecting eggs or start to incubate?

Ive got a few Chukar eggs so far and am unsure of whether to put them in the incubator now or wait until I have a few more first. My only option is storing them at room temperature ranging from 71-73 F and humidity of around 50%. Am I going to harm the eggs storing them like this or is it ok...

    When to start breeding buck

I've heard a wide variety of ages from different people on when to start breeding a buck. I've heard some say 4 months, some 8 months, and everything else in between too. When is a buck capable of beginning to breed? When is a safe age for breeding? Consequences of breeding before this safe age?

    Bunny Bunker

I know hurricane season is still a little while off, but was wondering what any of you may do knowing severe weather may be coming to wind/weather proof/secure your cages. Also wondering if anyones ever gone the extra mile to build a cage that's only to be used in the event of heavy winds, etc...

    Down time between breeding

How long do you wait after your doe has kindled before rebreeding her while trying to maximize meat production but not wanting to over do it for the doe? Just curious what any of you may do out there

Im looking for a Californian buck to be used as breeding stock. Im looking for any ages in the 8 week old - 8 month old age, the younger the better. Why so many NZW crossed with Californians??

Why are Californian rabbits so hard to find? It seems everyone crosses New Zealands with Californians, but not many pure breed Californians. I own Californians, and are really calm friendly rabbits, and my understanding of the New Zealands is that they can be pretty mean. IMO, why not raise pure...

What material for homemade incubator? Tips or plans??

Whats your opinion for the best material for a homemade incubator? Pros and cons of certain materials? I was thinking a plywood box, with a plexiglass window on front, probably 24" X 12",or possibly a little larger, but was unsure of how deep to make it. I plan to be using it to hatch Chukar...

Disinfecting/sterilizing rabbit cage for disease prevention

I currently have a buck with an eye issue which I believe is due to him having some of his eyelashes in his eye, but possibly could be an infection or disease as well. As a result, I'm playing it safe and am getting rid of him to prevent passing it to my rabbits or passing bad genetics to future...

Dust baths for gamebirds?? (In specific Chukars)

I'm new to owning gamebirds and have a breeding pair of Chukars. I've seen talk about Chukars liking dust baths but haven't seen much info on the uses, when to use them, sizes, how often to clean them, etc., just only the fact that they like them. Any info on dust baths in general would be...
