It was going well and then... she mentioned ....

If someone wrote me an email saying they "belong to an animal rescue so if it didn't work out they could find the bun a new home", I simply wouldn't have responded back. I wouldn't have added any fuel to upset them, such as saying I am leery of having them come to my house or family, and I do...

Help me what breed you think it is???

Not a purebred Rex. The fur is definitely not rex fur. A lot of people freely toss around labeling their rabbits what ever breed sounds good, esp pet stores. If anything he could have Standard Rex because he looks too big for a Mini Rex, but that's a big question mark. There are lots of nice...

Breeding For Pets, Mixing Breeds and General Ethics

In all honesty, I do feel like a breeder should be striving for something more than just breeding for pets to sell. It just makes no sense to me. It's not like you can make a whole butt load of money from them, unless you are cutting corners and lucky, and you certainly are not benefiting...

    selling 3 wkrs!

Most pet/feed stores that sell rabbits don't give a flying monkey what age the kits are. In fact they prefer them very young because they can be kept together, which makes it easy for them, and are quicker to sell. It's all about profit for them. Okay, you're a store, but does that necessarily...

    Biggest rabbit oopsies

Hmmmm One mistake I made was leaving a litter of very young kits in a box in the floor with my dog sitting on the couch while I went outside for 5 mins. Another mistake was, when getting a rabbit out of a top cage, accidently letting it slide its foot on the wire cage floor. It broke...

    Changed The Way I'm Selling

I like your thinking as long as it isn't over priced because I have seen some people who sell a "starter package" overpriced as a gimmick to make more money. However my feelings are it should be mandatory to GIVE at least a 7 day health guarantee for any kit sold.

2 Year Old Doe that has never had a litter

I bred a doe for the first time when she was probably 5 years old. She had two kits and was the greatest mother. I had her since she was a baby, so I knew she had never had a litter before.

    getting out of rabbits

We were going through a bag every two days, but now are going through a bag every 3 days thankfully. Manna Pro even uped their prices for their feed. Which means our feed bill per month is currently over $140. We have 10 small dogs (Papillons and Chinese Cresteds) and their feed bill for a month...

    New pics - Guesses?

The pink in ears baby could be Chestnut, Otter or Silver Marten. You'll know soon as the fur comes in. The totally black kit could only be black. The pink kit coming in as blue could be Smoke Pearl.

    Interesting....Extreme Animal Rights...*graphic images*

Somehow I think I would be freaking out if all of my rabbits were put TOGETHER on the ground. Of course the bucks are going to fight! The does will too. They'll tear each other up. With 300 rabbits, they are going to be having quite a many litters... If they knew anything they would have them...

Would you sell rabbits as Christmas/Easter presents?

This year for Christmas my mother and I surprised my sister with a Netherland Dwarf. Of course she had been eyeing him for a while and needed a shaded buck, so it was no impulse buy. We tend to give each other rabbits that we need to improve our herd to each other for birthdays and Christmas...

Anyone care to critique a bunny?

It is so sad you had a horrible experience with shows. I have never seen a judge act so rude before, and not all my entered rabbits have been amazing. I would not enter under them again, and let the people over that show know what happened. Don't be scared to enter a show because of anyone. We...

    selling Jersey Woolies....

The trick is patience. A lot of breeders want to immediately move out their rabbits as soon as they decide to sell them. It doesn't work like that unless you are a well known breeder or the rabbits are just spectacular and in demand. I have found that the inquires come in waves. You won't have...

Any Recourse Against Those Exhibiting Ill Animals?

I would be too ashamed to bring a sick rabbit to a show, let alone show it again after it was DQ'd for being sick. That's the thing with rabbit shows.. rabbits are exposed to a lot. We took our rabbits to a show one time and not long after coming home several of them came down with Weepy Eye...

    dwarf hotots

My sister has had Dwarf Hotots for several years and has had several litters so she could definitely tell you more than me. Dwarf Hotots are a "rarer" breed, and very few if any are at shows around here (SC). My sister is usually the only one showing. One thing I notice with the doe you pictured...
