How do YOU handle deposits and sales?

I think I may have to change up how I sell rabbits because I have had some issues with people wanting to pay deposits to reserve rabbits early and/or get upset because someone else reserved their favorite first. Here is how I do it currently: • Randomly through out the year I make up an email...

    Found my new German Shepherd!

Isn't he cute? We picked him up on Saturday from a nice family that had just this one litter and the two parents. So they were by no means "breeders", but their dogs looked healthy, were friendly, and their living conditions were very clean. The father was pure white and the mother was a...

Why are purebred dogs so expensive?

Short backstory: We are currently scouting for a house on a few acres to buy. I want a dog around for bringing goats in and for general protection since it is usually just my young daughter and I at home. I want an English or German Shepherd for general farm work and feel like a "dog breeder"...

Does this sound like an okay deal?

So I'm changing how I sell my rabbits... I used to sell all my French Angora rabbits for $70 including the pedigree. I'm not so sure I want to do it this way for a number of reasons, one of which includes not wanting my pet/wool quality babies making it to the show table with my name and...

    Mangel Beets

Has anyone used mangel beets successfully? Do you chop and dry the beets or feed them fresh? I am thinking I would like to grow a large bed or two of beets for the rabbits this year since our other root crops do beautifully. My goal is to feed naturally using mangel beets, oats, alfalfa, and...

Anyone going to the Stockton, California show?

I'm pretty sure I'm going! :bunnyhop: If anyone knows of any French Angoras or English Angoras going to the show, let me know. I have a friend who is looking ;)

    Buck died mysteriously this morning...

I have no idea what happened, but when I walked into the Rabbitry today my black buck, Sid, was on his side, limp, and screaming. I immediately pulled him out of his cage and took him out of the Rabbitry. He wasnt responding to anything so I went to grab my pellet gun to put him down, but by the...

Is there an app for that?

Does anyone know of some sort of pedigree management "app" or even just herd management app (keeping track of when to put the nest box in, due dates, kit weights etc.) for the iPad or even iPhone? It doesn't have to be free and it doesn't even have to be rabbit specific. I'd really love to just...

    Natural Feed Formula List

I know this can be found elsewhere, but I thought it would be beneficial to have one thread of nothing but everyone's formulas for natural feed. I just spent two hours scrolling though various threads... And although it seems like people have similar feed formulas, it would be nice to see it all...

    Breeding out a white spot?

I have a buck who has thrown one mismarked kit in each of his litters with different does. A black kit in each litter has a white spot in its nose. I know the easy answer would be to simply not breed him, but I only have two bucks and he was supposed to bring in new lines to my herd. Since the...

    Wool Babies!

My fuzzy butts are six weeks old today! Yay! This litter has 2 self black, 2 self blue, 2 chestnut, 1 opal, and 2 REWs.... as someone mentioned a couple weeks ago... I ordered the "variety pack"!

Have you heard of this before?

I was reading random blogs this morning and came across a blog post titled "Why Rabbit Meat Is Not The Best Survival Food".... so of course I had to click on it. It was basically all about how rabbit meat is too lean to be a main meat source. I think maybe the author didn't take non-meat fat...

    Oakland Zoo Rabbit Colony

My husband and I take our daughter to the Oakland Zoo every Christmas Eve when we travel off the mountain and into the Bay Area and this time I thought of taking pictures of the zoo rabbit colony! I can't see using a colony in my space or with my angoras, but maybe this will give some of you...

    Pallet hutch complete! Phew!

I will never ever ever build anything from pallets again! Ever! Man... It turned out well, but those pallets are a pain to disassemble. In the pictures it looks wet because we finished building it just as a rain storm rolled in. The hutch is 44" x 30" and 24" inside height. The walls are...

What do you think is doing this?

Neither of this kit's parents carry the Vienna gene as far as I know. This is the first litter sired by a new buck of mine so I can't compare with other litters I've had. It may be hard to tell, but this kit has white hairs on and above his nose. Eyes aren't open yet so I can't gain any insight...

    How long should I wait?

How long should I wait before hand raising kits? I know there is a low success rate for hand raising, but its been almost 48 hours and my doe hasn't fed them yet. I even tried flipping her over to force feed them, but it seems like her milk hasn't come in yet. I don't want them to start dying...
