    Red urine

Hey all, I have a jersey wooly female, about 8 years old who looks to be peeing red. Her poops are small as well. She seems a little sluggish, but is alert, and she did eat fresh organic spring mix last night. Might not be drinking much water. I noticed the red pee issue last night and did a...

A chinchilla pyometra question (not rabbits)

Has anyone had any experience with pyometra in chinchillas? I am not sure if this is what I'm dealing with, just to preface. I have a chin that had some discharge last weekend that looked like blood, and I have since gotten her into the vet for a checkup, and mentioned the "blood". By the time...

Chicken's belly is hot and swollen

I just noticed yesterday that my chicken's belly is looking swollen and it hot to the touch. Not just slightly warm, but REALLY warm. I did a quick search of what it could be and found ascites, but I'm not sure it's that. For a long time her bowel movements have been on the softer side, not...

    Survivor?

Does anyone watch? I just finished binging through 19 seasons of it over the past few months. I swear, I do take care of my animals, house, and family. LOL

    Chinchilla pedigree question (NOT rabbits)

Is it possible to start a pedigree where there is not one? Quick explanation---a friend is wanting to rehome her chinchilla breeding stock, but she has no information on the lines. They are healthy chins, and IIRC, they are all female from the same lines. The male she would be obtaining for me...

How much Ivermectin for a less-then-1lb rabbit?

A friend of mine is planning to treat her small bun for mites, but doesn't know how much ivermectin to give her since she's less than 1lb. Can anyone tell me what to tell her? I've never used Ivermectin myself, so I have no idea.

    vaginal infection? (photos now included)

I'm not sure that is the proper term, nor am I sure this is what is going on, but perhaps if I explain it to you all, you will be able to direct me. The other day, I noticed that Alice (my Jersey Wooly) had some sticky poop on her fur around her anus and genital area. I cleaned her off the best...

    Aggressive (?) doe won't breed

My daughter has been trying to breed her mini lop doe over the past year. She is now something like 16 months old (we got her last December at 4 months old) and has been tried many times, with this last time resulting in her attacking the buck (according to the buck's owner who did the...

Found a roach in the feed

Can I add food grade DE to the feed to keep them out? This is the first time I've seen this, and I want it to be the last. I've sprinkled the dark grey DE on the ground around the feed bins, but I'm thinking maybe I can add the human grade (white) DE to the feed itself. Thoughts?

    Pregnancy questions

My daughter bred her mini lop last month and today is day 35 and she still hasn't kindled. This is her (our) first time, and the person who bred Michelle (we left her with a friend) says that Michelle (the rabbit) was very receptive to the process, yet I'm really not sure she is pregnant. A few...

Leaving bunnies alone for two days/nights?

I have a question: We need to leave for a few nights from Christmas day to around Tuesday. Our bunnies are now living in their new outdoor hutch. Highs and lows for those days/nights is supposed to be 73/41-42 for both days/nights. I won't be here to cover them up every night, but the hutch is...

    Rabbit Hutch Progress

(I'm not sure I'm posting this in the right place, so mods if need be, please move this thread. :) My husband has been designing and building a new rabbit hutch for our new bunnies and it's turning out so much better than I thought it would. It's only halfway finished, but I wanted to share. :)...

    Ok temp for Jersey Woolies

Hi all. I've had my precious Wooly since last Saturday and she has been living inside since I got her. I got her from a rabbitry, so my guess is that she was likely housed outside. This might be a dumb question, but will she be ok outside at night since she's been inside for the past week? What...

Building a rabbit hutch---to stain or not to stain?

My husband will be building a rabbit hutch for our new bunnies this weekend, but he's sort of run into a snag. Usually whenever he builds anything for outdoors, he stains it so the wood won't deteriorate as quickly as it would without. However, he is thinking that regular stain is not going to...
