    French Rex?????

I mainly want to do it to see if I can. It would result in the largest rex coated rabbit that I'm aware of meaning it would take fewer hides to do anything with when I butcher my culls. I'm rather hoping that there are others that are trying to do the same thing but maybe not. It would be fun...

    French Rex?????

I'm thinking it will be a long term project to get any kind of consistency out of them. If I recall rex fur and lop ears are both recessive so the first generation will likely not have either trait. I'll be selecting entirely off of type for the F1 keep set and then hoping to get the fur and...

    French Rex?????

I've been contemplating crossing French Lops with my Rex for a while now. Just curious if anyone else has tried it already. I'd love to keep the size and disposition of the French and add the rex hide to them.

    Color help

Thank you for the answers and explanations. I will try to get better pictures of ring pattern today. Here is his pedigree and while I’m not 100% certain on the colors listed I did see his dam and do believe she is a chocolate chin. This little buck is definitely making me scratch my head.

    Color help

When I bought this little Buck he was supposed to be a Sable Chin. I’ve seen several people say they have a sable chin rabbit and I can’t figure out how that’s possible since the chl sable gene is recessive to the chd chinchilla gene. After looking at the pedigree there are no sables or seals in...

Tell your friend that they made an awesome decision. Congrats on spreading the rabbitosis to another.

    Mini Lop vs. French Lop

I do not have experience with the mini's other than that some of my 4H kids have them. They seem like sweet buns. I absolutely fell for French's the first time that I was around them at a show. They are great big rabbits that love attention. They are quite easy to deal with, although they do...

    Which to keep??

I can only keep at most two. I think I'll definitely keep the chin. Trying to decide between the two seals.

    Which to keep??

I am trying to decide which of these three I should keep. They look pretty decent to me and the first seal looks like she has a better top line where the second seal has a little better shoulder. Not sure if I'm going to keep all or maybe just one or two. They're 11 weeks old and all right...

    Record Keeping Software

I use both the Evans and Global Pedigree. They both have pros and cons. If I were to only use one I'd absolutely choose Evans. Very user friendly and efficient. Pedigrees are easy to print and select what you want on them. The nice thing about Global is that it has so much data already in it...

My first litter of French Lops!!

Here's a 2 1/2 week update. Kits are doing well but we did lose one this morning; it just never seemed to grow and finally died today. Kinda bummed as I'd grown rather fond of the little guy. Nine survivors for a first time mom isn't too bad though.

    Rabbit ID

Looks like some sort of Lionhead cross with Vienna markings. That hair is just too much though :P . It would be interesting to see if the littermates had the same tufting. Very cute little guy.

Brought home more bunnies...Harlequins! POPPLE UPDATE!!

Congrats on the babies. Looks like you do at least have one correct patterned kit there. Harli's are gorgeous rabbits and all the breeders I've spoken with out this way rave about there dispositions.

My first litter of French Lops!!

Here is a picture of momma. No ring pattern that I can make out. I was told that she is a broken orange, but that could be incorrect. I don't have any colors equivalent to it in my Rex. The colors are very different in the lops I'm finding. She's out of a broken Chin and a broken Cream...

My first litter of French Lops!!

I finally got a litter of French Lops. My little girl kindled on the 13th. She had twelve but lost two right away, the other 10 are doing well. Mom is a Broken Orange doe and Dad is a solid Chinchilla. Can't wait to see what I got as they start getting more fur.

Rex with lopped ears, how often does this happen?

I'm jealous, I'm starting to work on a project crossing my French Lops with my Rex' trying to get a 13+ pound Rex with lop ears. I'd love to see pictures of your kits. I think that if you could get them to breed true you are definitely onto something. Congrats on the super cool litter.

    We have kits!!!! What now?

Looks like a solid black tort, two broken black torts, a blue and I'm not entirely sure on the top one in the picture. If in fact that darker areas are just shadows then I'd say another blue.

    Which breed

I love my Rex bunnies. They have great dispositions, come in tons of different colors and make great meat buns with the added bonus of a valuable pelt. I keep mine outside year-round and it will sometimes not get above freezing for days in the winter and frequently over 100* in the summer.
