I think I already know the answer to my question but I just thought I would ask just in case. One of my new born kits has a swollen leg. The swelling goes from the hip to the tip of the toes. I am talking very swollen...the leg is stick straight. I am guess there is nothing I can do for the...
I myself wouldn't eat a guinea pig. However, I would feed it to my dogs in a heart beat. Maybe there are raw feeders in your area that would be interested. I know those that feed/follow the whole prey model like guinea pigs and rabbits because of their small size.
Update: So far I thawed out one hide. I laid it flat out on some newspaper and applied some pickling salt. The salt has been on for about 5 days. The last two days I added a fan as an extra drying measure (not sure if it is doing anything). Today (day 7) I dumped off the salt but there is still...
I would like to use my rabbit hides to make dog toys, braid it into fleece fabric to make tug toys and such. How do you think I should preserve them? The toys obviously wont last forever but I also dont want the hides to spoil or smell bad. The hides dont have to turn out high quality just good...
I use a Champagne buck on Flemish Giant does. Flemish giants make great mothers and have large litters but they have a lot of bone. I think the Champagne refines the bone while still maintaining the fast growing large size of the Flemish. My kits average out at 5+ lbs at 8 weeks with plenty of...
I dont give our meat rabbits names because they will either be people food or dog food at some point and I dont want to make it harder on myself. My breeding stock (all three of them:) get numbers. Girls are odd numbers and boys are even numbers. So right now by does are #1 and #3 while my buck...
I save the ears and feet for my dogs but I don't dehydrate them. I feed them fresh after butchering or I freeze them until I am ready to use them. I let them thaw in the fridge before use. I guess you could give them to the dogs frozen as well. The dogs love them! I have never tried to dehydrate...
For sure get rid of the rice, dogs dont need grains of any sort. I do give my dogs peas and carrots that I put through the food processor along with beef liver just because one of my dogs has crystals in his urine and I am trying to increase his fluid intake. I would do some research online...
I am hoping our first go at raising meat rabbits wasn't just beginners luck. We crossed our two Flemish Giant does with our Champagne buck. Both does took and delivered on day 32. Doe number one had 2 kits and doe number two had 10 kits. Both does built awesome nests in their provided boxes and...
