She is calm and eating and drinking. She hasn't had anymore contractions but i am giving her a shot of pen-g just to prevent infection.

I read somewhere that sometimes they will retain a kit and it will mummify and the doe is just fine. But that it isn't recommended to breed them again if that happens. I have no idea how valid this info is though since I just read it on FB. I would def give the Pen.

How did the vet know there was 1 more?

Wow... glad she's eating and drinking, that's a good sign... the pen-g is probably a very good idea.

I sure hope she passes the last kit soon, and survives the whole thing alright!

The vet could tell there was one by palpation. I could also feel just one.

She passed the last kit sometime today while I was at work. Also DOA. I palpated her just to make sure and she feels empty. She received a dose of dura pen and I gave her a tums cause she was shaking a little bit. She is eating and drinking and seems ok.

thanks everyone. I am keeping a close eye on her. Other than losing some weight from this ordeal she seems fine.

I am Glad to hear she is doing good now! My doe was just fine after her 2 day delivery, I also gave her some pen-g. She was lifting bad for me when I was petting her so I threw her in with my buck, hoping next time goes better.

So thrilled to hear she's finally passed the last kit and now she's feeling so much better. Will you try to breed her again after this ordeal has become a thing of the past? She's such a lovely girl and would make lovely kits. If you do, fingers crossed that this was just one bad experience and not a trend.

I would not rule it out. The holland had three dead kits the first time, over two days, 6 kits I had to pull out the second time, since then, two successful litters. I figured if she would not breed, I would cull her, so better to try another time around.

Thanks everyone. She still seems fine today.

That is very encouraging I just might try with her again.

I really hope I don't have to go through this again. My other does have all had flawless deliveries. Sazuki is my smallest doe though. :(

Makes me rethink keeping smaller does for sure. Maybe just get tinier bucks instead. There is definitely something to be said for a Big Brood doe.
