Got a bunch of nest liners cut out. Bun tried to help...
Let Baymax out to roam. He came hopping right over when I went to get him.
Waited for pup to wander off first, though.

$1202 in the red. 48 in koi fry sales.

Currently $1154 in the red.

Contacting Oct guy to see if he's still interested this morning. Hope so. Only 50-60, but everything helps lower the bill!

I have enjoyed the accounting. Question though--do you count the rabbits you eat and those you cull as dog food meat you aren't buying? I mean that has to add up. If you have produced 100 5lb rabbits at $2/lb you will take out that $1154 in no time. I count live weight because the only thing the dog doesn't eat is the bladder and gallbladder--and I take about 3-4 meals out of a rabbit for myself as well.

Did the math a while ago of actual cost saved in kibble value. Hardly put a dent in it.

45# bag of kibble at $55 per bag.

"45# ÷ 1.6.3# = 27.60 meals per bag.
$55 ÷ 27.60 = $1.99 cost per meal. Not including tax.
How many have I fed to the dogs? Way too hard to figure out. Maybe 60 in all, mix of whole, scrap & lost kits. Only $90 or so saved in kibble."

My total feed bill for my critters in 2022 was just under 12k. Because of what you are doing I am going to track everything this year.

Hah, yeah, not really worth counting the rabbits as money saved as dog food.

45# ÷ 1.6.3# = 27.60 meals per bag.
55$ ÷ 27.60 = $1.99 cost per meal. Not including tax.

How many have I fed to the dogs; whole, 2 buns of scrap w/eggs per dog & lost nests w/half kibble?

Way too hard to figure out. Maybe 60, mix of whole, scrap & lost kits in all. Only $90 or so.
Back in May, saved $90 in kibble.

How much kibble saved now? About 3 bags worth. So, $165. Fed a few lamb culls since May, too. Do I count that?? Also fed 1 mean arse turkey hen. That fed both dogs for 3 days! Do I also count that? Maybe one more bag saved, $220 in kibble saved.

I didn't use the 90 from before in the feed count.

$1154 in the red.
220 & 90 in saved kibble value, 310. Take that out and now we have...

Currently $844 in the red.

The 4 torts. Still unsure on color...

Learning to use nipple. Have a bowl in there, but mom keeps flinging it around.

The bowl...

Foster seems to be annoyed by the others just wanting to sleep. Lol.

All of her own and fostered kits are so friendly. Can't say the same about Lynx, Freckles, Darkie & the blue rex kits. Many of those are screamers, even when being handled since day one. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I personally think it is a good lesson for would be breeders... because there is absolutely no money in breeding any kind of critter from horses,to dogs to rabbits! Growing organic garlic however.. there is the easy button to good cash with little input!

Sure isn't!
And even if you have the land, gifted to you, there's taxes, upkeep costs, fencing and such. Farming is a total crapshoot money wise. You're always in debt in some fashion.
