What always makes me laugh when it snows (maybe 1 or 2 times a year here) is all the northern people chiming in that we don't know how to drive in the snow. As if we have a place to practice lol.

What makes them think they know how to drive, LOL. This is a city full of dented up cars, as if they've never seen the stuff in their lives. It just takes some patience and a little common sense. And good tires.

Thank goodness, then, that temps here are very mild. We dont get snow. Highs in summer are aromund 80, sometimes 90. Lows in winters are 30-40 degrees at night. Thats why it is so expensive to live here.

Weathers the same here in New Zealand- I live in a small town (not much to do here hard to find a job) so its not very expensive- Median house price is $200,000. But I think to have a nice house you need to spend $300,000 NZ dollars. 60-75 degrees much of the time.

Come up here for a while, the snow starts about October and stays til, oh, March- April. :twisted:

Funny thing. I Googled "cold gif" to find a funny one for the above post and there it was. Looks kind of like one of my Flemish in the snow but it isn't mine.

That said, this Louisiana girl has driven someone else's van down a steep hill to a red light, on packed snow and ice, and I did not slide. Slow, slow, slow, no sudden braking, and driving on stuff that was shiny as little as possible. Made it all the way where I was going, and back again. This was in upstate New York. I also drove in snow in Delaware when we lived there, and never had a problem. Like Sky said, patience, common sense, and good tires.

Supposed to be 45F today. Tomorrow 55F with rain. Unfortunately, summer was wet and cool, and the Lake did not get warm enough to be of any help this winter. If the precipitation trend continues, there will be lots of snow soon.

Very true. I used to live in Maine, grew up in the very north east corner of PA. So I've done cold, now it's the heats turn. I think of all the places I have lived Maine is my favorite followed by PA and then TX. I like lots of trees and green.

Woke up to snow and temps in the 20's with a real feel in the single digits. I need to bundle up and go check rabbits. We got all the plastic up last night before the storm hit. We turned on the brooders and gained 4 degrees while we were out there! I am just shooting for not having frozen water bottles.

It's in the low 20's here today. Our weather station (home version) says it is 26F, but the temp sensor is located near our eaves so the heat from the house bumps the reading up a bit. We have 4" - 6" snow forecast for Saturday!
