@TamiPac I have no words that can say how grateful I am to you. This is the most amazing experience I've had in ages. We are hatching and I keep having to pinch myself to be sure it's real. I can't believe it. THANK YOU!! You gave me the info and push I needed to finally do this with your kindness. Did I mention THANK YOU!??!!

You are very welcome. We need to help each other. 💞

Here's where we are at as of now.
30 shipped eggs and 14 eggs from our own quail put in the incubator.
15 shipped and 11 of our eggs appeared viable at candling before lockdown
16 hatched and were put in the brooder this afternoon. 3 more have hatched tonight. Hopefully a few more will hatch. We have 3 of our own eggs and 4 shipped eggs left to hatch.
This may become an addiction. 🫣

I'm so happy it's gone so well.

How long do you wait for stragglers? One egg was wiggling around this morning but hasn't done anything today. The rest show nothing that I've seen. I'm thinking it's time to check them?

I do 48 hours and into the trash they go. It's pretty common to have one die after trying to hatch.

We lost one a few days in. Didn't finish absorbing the eggs so assuming it wasn't right from the start. Lost one today that I've been trying to save with what looks like wryneck. Another one that seems fine has wryneck but so far is doing well and getting feathers just fine. IMG_8246.jpeg

Continuing with supplements in hopes it will make it. Both from the shipped eggs it appears (the one we lost for sure) so not sure if that's the cause or if it's something I did. Here's some updated pictures.

So cute! I don't know how others do it but for the first week I add a drizzle of black strap molasses to the water and from day one to forever I put this in their water. I put it in the chicken water as well. https://www.chewy.com/rooster-booster-vitamins-electrolytes/dp/281092

That's awesome. I have this on hand for baking and the dairy cows post calving. That's very easy to do. Thanks for that tip! I've not hand any chicken chicks have this problem so this is a new one for me. Going to add some now to their water. ❤️ I've been treating the two (now 1) chicks with Nutri drench poultry which sure looks and smells like it has back strap molasses in it.
