I know it's not ever feasible for most of y'all, but when the heat started getting bad here in May, we moved the buns indoors. Most of these little tricks don't seem to last long for cooling. When the sun goes down and it's only dropped to 90+ (or 100+ in the dead summer) long-term cooling is really needed. The humidity here makes everything worthless. I'm in a few Texas rabbit breeders and Texas Satin groups on facebook, and this question has come up a lot recently. Seems like a/c is the way to go.

I'm hoping just a window unit or two will suffice for our new barn. Our bank account is already crying in anticipation.

Sitting here with my coat on thinking i should have built a fire this morning,,,,reading this, i sure dont miss living in texas this time of year.

I love Texas, but these summers are increasingly getting out of hand. My husband is a hoosier, and I've contemplated moving the family up there. Or Idaho or Michigan. I'm partial to the UP, no idea why. I've never even visited. I bet the rabbits would love it.

My mother would have a fit. Per rental agreement, I am not allowed to have any animals inside the house. Besides the basement is wet and moldy, and I rarely go down there, except to wash a few clothes.

I'm not sure my bank account could handle an air conditioner. I rarely even turn on the window one I have for myself, unless it is way past 80 at night. I do wonder why the dog's side of the barn is cooler than the bunnies side, maybe the concrete keeps it cooler?
