    Red, Orange, Fawn ??????

I would say orange or light red, but usually the exact color names depend on the SOP for the breed. Since lionlops aren't a recognized breed and lionheads don't have a COD out for any of those colors, you can call her whatever color you want! She is lovely by the way!!

    leave them be

I am slowly learning that (most) satin angoras really don't need grooming as long as I keep them plucked properly I was pleasantly surpised this morning to take this fella out, blow him out for 2 minutes and snap this picture. haven't groomed him since I last plucked him 2 months ago, and nary...

    How genetic is temperament?

I notice some of my buns tend to be skittish, so I think it is at least partly genetic. I handle all the kits the same -- In my most recent litters, most are just calmly eating on their hay at breakfast while one is looking at me like I'm godzilla. I def. agree on temperament. I've never had a...

    I'm making a rabbit pie...

I made this last thanksgiving and I am bumping because I searched up this post again for this year! (It's that good!) The only differences were I added mushrooms and peas, and used storebought crust. :cats-bed: lazy I guess Highly recommend if anyone else happens to be scrolling around here...

    ADVICE PLEASE!!!! Injured rabbit

Remove the kit and put somewhere away from the others. Could be weanling enteritis? Were they just weaned? If so, remove pellets and replace with rolled oats.

Are we doing this right? New rabbits here!!

Congratulations! Sounds like things are going well! If I were you I would be open to upping their feed while they are still young. your son can learn to feel if they are too fat or skinny and play it by ear. Some breeders do not feed alfalfa because of a possible calcium overload, because it...

Thoughts on this litters color based on a pet market.

Yeah, you will have no trouble whatsoever selling every one of them. Try checking out your local craigslist and see what the going rate is. In my area I would maybe start at $35 to weed out snake folks and be willing to be haggle a bit. Not sure which parent has that vienna gene, but maybe you...

    Timothy/Alfalfa hay cubes for rabbits

A couple of mine really seem to like them. You would feed them in place of loose hay, but most of mine really like it loose better.

    We just had a housefire.

What a terrible experience --- but a great story. Our fire alarms go off almost every time I use the oven, but I guess the earaches are better than losing the house.

    My broken Orange doe

if she is outside, you'll want the fur to keep em warm. You could use dryer lint or various other things to substitute. if she's warm inside it's no biggie. it could take a few litters for her to figure it all out. She may still pull fur.

    Does for my buck

Brokens do tend to sell more easily than other colors, esp as pets. I would recommend keeping back a solid buck from one of his litters if you don't want any more broken. Once you sell all your brokens, next generation, the nice thing is you won't get any more. It doesn't hide under anything but...

    Thinking about chickens

Yeah, the poo can fall through the wire through a long hole we cut under the roost. In the summer, we hosed it down every 2 weeks or so, and had some nice buckets-o-poo to lug to the compost pile. (chicken dooky is great for hot composting!) in winter, it's a lot more troublesome w/ a frozen...

    popple weights

kintrax/animal has pretty nice little weight trackers. You can compare a kit to it's litter for instance. I don't update it as much as I should, though. I think each herd grows a little differently, so my approach is to take data on several litters before I even start looking at it. I don't...

    Thinking about chickens

Here's a page I made about the coop my hubby built last year. My rabbits also share the shed pictured now. I recommend barred rocks! They are laying an egg a day here in the dead of winter. http://www.squidoo.com/easy-clean-chicken-coop Maybe it will inspire you -- some things are less than...

    Bad timing!

Is there a rehab facility near where you live? We had a similar situation with my FIL falling 3 times in 6 months. He had to stay in a rehab center, and he hated it, but they taught him all the important stuff about moving around -- what he can/can't do. He's living with us now, but hasn't had a...
