Okay, so I have a kit born a month ago, and it's color confuses me.At first it looks like a solid black, but when you look closer, it has a very dark agouti head. The rest of the body seems to be solid black. The mother is a broken black and the father is an Agouti buck with a white blaze on his head and white paws (sorry I don't know the name of the pattern...).

Does anyone know which color is this rabbit? I am no expert on rabbit colors and I apologise if this is a common color, but I just haven't met this color before.

It's a steel - either gold tipped steel if there is brown ticking (agouti, black and steel genes) or silver tipped steel if the ticking is white (agouti, black, chinchilla and steel genes)

:yeahthat:

It's usually easiest to think of steel as a sort of modified agouti.

The gene is most likely carried by your doe, unless your agouti buck happens to be a really heavily ticked steel.

Both seem to be common.

Thanks for your answers :) The ticking is gold, and as you say the gene probably comes from the doe.The image below is an offspring from the same doe but different father (the father of this one is a silver fox buck). The picture is old, but the coloring has remained more or less the same.

Gold tipped steel, right? Always thought it was a dark agouti or something like that :/
