Back in May I bought my beautiful Bun from a small Pet Shop in my town.
Upon purchasing, the shop keeper told me that my bun is a girl and she's a rex.
I became kind of obsessed with rabbits  so I did some research, and I don't think Ebony looks like a rex.
Oh, and he also pulled a Houdini Weenie on me and Ebony is actually a boy, lol.

Anywho, Ebony has the face of a rex but not the fur texture like I've seen with most rex's. Could anyone help?

All I can say is Ebony looks like a sweet "mix". And that "Sex Change" fairy, I think, lives in Pet Stores. They usually don't have a clue on breed or sex. Even though I like purebreds, my mix Dobby is such a sweetie. Mixes are like mutts. They are great! If you are not interested in showing, just enjoy your bun!

Shes not a REx.most pet shops here carry mix breeds.they call most of them dwarfs.

You should fit in here very well!

I agree... that is not Rex fur. S/he may very well be a Rex cross, though. I have no idea. Handsome bun!

Hello SenoraNintendo,
Your Rabbit may be crossed with a Satin,
I say this only because of the obvious sheen of the coat.
Ottersatin. :eek:ldtimer:

Definitly not a rex. When I went to the petstore on Monday they had 2 black and 1 white rabbit that look just like yours. Not sure what they were but they were very sweet, with big ears!

Any silver hairs in the coat?
Hard to tell from pic

Looks a bit like silver fox, but ears seem too small.
Maybe SF mix?

That was my first thought. It could also be a cross with a Havana.

Here is Midnight my Black Havana Doe(with her Blue sister). Sorry didn't have better pictures. Havana's as adults should be between 5 and 6 lbs. They are typically at 5 lbs around the 5th to 6th month. Nice looking bunny you have either way.

Yea the ears are too small for a SF

My AmChin crossed with SF or crossed with Cali, if the kits are black, they have the same really nice shine and softness as your buck, OP.
My mix doe.

My vote would be a mix with Havana also.... But I honestly don't know. You may never know. But I love when speculation causes a thread to break out in pictures! :D

I don't know what type Ebony is, but that's possibly the funniest thing I've ever heard!!

Yes, he has a small patch on his chest and a few silver hairs running down his back.

Hi SenoraNintendo! Welcome to RT! :D

Good thing you gave Ebony a gender neutral name... a friend of mine had a Holland Lop years ago, and her name was Ariel... until the dratted Sex Change Fairy came along, and his name was changed first to Hariel, eventually shortened to Harry.

Ebony is a very pretty rabbit, but I don't see any Rex in him. Bucks especially get very big cheeks. The rabbits in my avatar are a Rex doe and one of her kits.

Hello there.

Looks kind of small for a SF mix. My eight week old SF's 6lbs easily.

Rex

Yeah, Ebony is going to be 7 months old on the 27th and he is still very tiny.

Maybe a mixture of Mini Rex? Because he is still very tiny? I have to say the more I look at your sweet Ebony, the more I think of Havana. I just love his face and those big ears. The way the picture is, it looks like he has more fur in the front and tapers off to a smooth back. It doesn't look like a rex fur, which is plush like a stuffed animal. Had the opportunity to meet a Rex. Lovely, plush fur.

Whatever the mixture, I think he's just sweet.

There is no rex in your bunny, nor is there any silver fox. the fur is all wrong. Look how ultra shiny it is. I would suspect havana. They have what is called snappy flyback fur. Its very sharp and shiny. Around here, all pet store rabbits are breeder culls, which means almost all pet store bunnies are purbreds that werent good enough to keep for show.
