RR, I've been meaning to ask. Where in upstate NY do you live? I used to be stationed up in Clinton County (Plattsburgh) years ago.

Ft Drum ??? about 70 miles north of us...give or take a couple...

I'm wrong... Plattsburgh is north-East. Not really near Ft Drum...

Yeah, Fort Drum is the Watertown area. Where I was stationed is located 60 miles due south of Montreal along I-87.

I'm new to the site and new to breeding (I've had "pet" rabbits off and on my whole life). So I have a show quality pair + 2 rare colored does w/ no records. My problem is not enough holes(I'm having to breed does a month apart instead of at togather, so no opertunity to foster) and not enough money (for carriers, pedigrees on my SQ pair, memberships, gas to travel, ect.). I guess my question is am I going to beable to sell these babies for enough to help pay for that stuff so I can do more with my rabbits and grow? BTW I'm raising Minilops and my pair are out of a national champion producing herd.

What colors are they?

If you don't have pedigrees on them, you probably won't be able to make much money back, no matter what herd they came from. You can keep breeding until you get enough generations to make a pedigree, but that'll take a few years.

It is possible to make money back...but you have to have spectacular rabbits, or be productive enough and market savvy to draw in a lot of customers.

I pretty much count all rabbit business (and dog business for that matter) as a loss, only for hobbies sake. I advertise a few for sale, but mostly this is my pet project, and if I sell any along the way, then that's gravy :)

I have options to buy pedigrees on my buck and 1 doe (@ $30 ea.) I'm getting the other 2 tattooed and breeding up to pedigree (the plan anyway). The Buck is blanket broken steel and the doe is Reg. broken Blue Steel. The 2 new does are variations of frosted.
Satins- I'm 20 minutes from Manhattan, about 2 hours from Emporia.

__________ Thu Mar 29, 2012 8:37 pm __________

I was asking $25 ea. (15 for 4-h) or 3 for $60 and pedi.s (where available) included free once I get them. I want them all gone by 10wks due to hole limitations.
