Update

So I have had ZERO heat issues. No deaths related to heat. The upkeep of the colony has been easier. I'm very happy with the colony setup. Now if I could only get them to stop digging tunnels......new thread.
 
If you keep pedigree records, a colony doesn't work. Nor does it work here in SE Texas, where the ground is full of parasites and other nasties. I have my rabbits in cages, about 3-4 feet off the ground, under a carport type barn. It is shaded some of the day, I have fans and a mister system if the temps are over 100f. So far this year, they have all done very well. No heat stress at all since we installed the mister system for the really hot days.
