I have New Zealand Whites Junior and seniors, New Zealand Black Jr. Buck, Creme D'Argents all, champagne D'Argent doe Jr and maybe others.

Ok. I will post what a show entry form looks like, what you would submit to the table at the beginning of a show. Normally there would be comment cards, but who ever the judges are, they can put comments below each picture.

As people fill out the show entry form (post it here?) I can post the threads for the breeds entered.

Judges probably need to have an SOP in front of them, or really know the breed judged. You can't judge a breed you are entered in, so I can't judge Rex, Silver Fox, Angora or Jersey Woolies. But I could judge Hollands, I've bred them before. Or one of the other commercial meat breeds.

Can I present Homesteaders for their first showing?

I can judge marked breeds (Checkereds, Harlies, Spots), runners, or commercial breeds. Or Havanas, I seem to do good with Havanas.

Let's start a new thread, and I will sticky it.

This is your rodeo, so you get to name the event. ;)

You should start a thread for potential judges as well. As you and Cait did, they can list which breeds they are qualified to judge and which they will not be eligible for due to having entries in the breed.

I can do French Lops! :D Yep, that is all I'm good at. Although I really have no idea hat you are talking about. lol

__________ Thu Sep 05, 2013 3:17 pm __________

If you need someone to "do a job", you can tell me, I'm filled with time. :D

I like the Rabbit Talk Virtual Unconventional Convention thing you said. That was cool.

Ok, this evening I'll get the registration thread and the judging interest thread going.

I have my Americans, I've already let my daughter know that we need to take and post pics. She just needs to know when. :)

OwnedByTheBuns I have my french lop buck too! :D

Can't wait! :p

Amy, I'll judge your Frenchie! :D LOL, other than you and I, I don't think anyone else has French Lops.

I'm not sure if Zab still has any and big bucks ny mentioned f lops on the new thread "dryspell over"! :p It would be ssswweet if FLs came back! I love the minis, hollands, english, velveteens and...well..... ALL of them but frenchys will always be my favorite b/c that is the first breed I raised. I'd love to find my buck a mate, we found out the kid who bred ours is getting out of it and going off to college. He supposed to let us know if he has any. He was big into showing his frenchys (and several other breeds)so I doubt he'll sell us one. He knows we don't show so he probably would sell his stock to friends that show first. Can't blame him for that of course! :) I know if I were going away to college, I'd send my stock off to be with friends so I could keep up with the show thing from my dorm room! LOL

Soooo... you want to arrange transport? LOL, right now I'm watching my frenchies clean their ears, faces, each other, and flopping all over the place. On hotter days, they just flop over and look cute all the time. LOL

I never knew French Lops were "Rareish" until I joined some rabbit forums... NO ONE has them! I can't find another buck anywhere, besides the fair!

I do love em though. :D

How similar is a rabbit show to a dog show? (I know, I know: I'm going to the Angora show on the 14th--just wait and find out!)

There are age classes? Yes.
There are male/female classes? Yes.
What about winners? BOB? BOS (Best of Opposite Sex)? Then what are the Rabbit Ribbons after that? Are there Awards of Merit?

Then...are there Groups? If so, how are the breeds grouped?

Or do all the BOBs go against one another for BIS (Best in Show)?

Thank you! :)

I have never been to a convention or show, this is great!! I love to learn in "unconventional" manners LOL!!

Entry form

Tattoo--------------------Breed--------------Variety-------------------Age----------Sex

For Example

M26 Rex Chinchilla Sr Doe
RH15 Jersey Wooly Self Sr Doe
RW15 Rex Broken Sr Buck

I will make a new thread for this

Or do all the BOBs go against one another for BIS (Best in Show)?

Yes, The breeds are divided by sex, age, variety. Then the BOB from each breed goes back on the table for BIS, usually Best Reserve in Show and I have seen Second Reserve in Show picked. At least at the shows I've attended. I'm not sure about convention.

Very similar.
There is a set order of judging, color groups, then age, then gender. In Rex, Color groups by ABC order, so Amber--jr does, jr, bucks, sr does, sr bucks. Best Amber (BOV best of variety) is set aside, the proceedings go on until all varieties are judged, and BOB and BOS are picked. Same goes for all breeds, and BIS is picked from BOB.

An update and some questions;

Miss M is going to be our Show Secretary so that entries will be anonymous. An email account has been generated specifically for this show.

Please see this thread for entry information:

rt-unconventional-convention-entry-form-t17408.html

Questions:

1. What do we want to set as a deadline for entries?
2. Should weight be listed on the entries since we obviously can't weigh the rabbits at the show?
3. Should we post the entries as they are received or post the classes on the day of the show?
4. Mutt categories... Meat Mutt and Pet Mutt categories?

Who here has experience with different rabbit types? We need someone with knowledge of rabbit confirmation to judge. I think we should add a class of pets and a class for meat characteristics.

I won the judging contest at state last year.
