I see all the really low temperatures....

Yeah, but you'll be roasting come summer! I'd much rather suffer through the cold winter than a hot summer - I can always put more clothes on, but there's only so much clothes you can take off before someone calls the cops!

I'm already an icicle and the worst is yet to come. I'd be OK with sweltering heat at this point.

I agree with you, Bad Habit! :)

This little cold snap will only last another day and then we'll be back to more moderate temperatures around the freezing mark. HoppinHalfPints, I greatly dislike extremes of cold and heat, but we generally only get about 6-8 weeks of extreme cold (January into February) and about 6-8 weeks of really uncomfortable heat (late June through July). I can live with that for the pleasure of moderate temperatures for most of the year.

Of course, what I call moderate may not be the same as what you would call moderate!

Car doors were frozen shut yesterday morning. Finally got them open and they wouldn't close. Short trip so we just held the doors closed for 2 miles. Eventually they closed. Around 50 today which isn't too bad considering.

This was the view from our back door a couple of mornings ago.

I hate winter, I hate the cold. The snow can be kinda pretty on the trees, but I have no use for it on the ground.

Thank goodness, then, that temps here are very mild. We dont get snow. Highs in summer are aromund 80, sometimes 90. Lows in winters are 30-40 degrees at night. Thats why it is so expensive to live here.

Today is around 50. We're gearing up. The cold is coming next week. Daily highs around freezing :(

Well, we get a LOT of mist and fog. I like it though. Average annual precipitation is 17.79 inches. Plus, the ocean is REALLY cold. Around 50 degrees. Not the best swimming water, but hey, it makes for pretty pictures. :)

It's been cool to cold here. Today, I'm not sure what the high was, but I'd guess low 60s. That's warmer than they have been which has been around 50*.

We have had 4 or 5 nights so far in the upper 20s! We never get weather this cold this early. The kids are hoping it's a sign we'll get snow this year! :p

The humidity makes such a difference, though... in upstate NY, I could go outside in a sweater in 20* weather, because it was so dry. 50* with 95% humidity is almost intolerable, though. The humidity just carries the bite right through all your layers and jackets and coats and whatever you're trying to beat it back with, and makes you freeze... even though it's not really that cold. :?

We soooo need a like button for things like this. I say it all the time. I can make heat with wood from nature, can't make cool without electricity...

and where I live, the high today is 76 degrees! ;)

I love the coast.

:tease:

I love it out there too. Why am I here putting up with -20 in the winter and 105 in the summer?

Oh well it's not going to be to bad for a few days (mid 50's) then it's going to get cold...

From the NOAA web site for this week...

Wednesday A slight chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. East wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 10%.

Wednesday Night A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. Blustery, with a north northeast wind 15 to 20 mph becoming east 10 to 15 mph after midnight.

Thursday A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 21. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 7. East wind around 5 mph.

Friday A 10 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

Oh I hate the heat! I much prefer cold. I love snow, but sadly we cant get it here. That's the downside. We have to travel inland, about an hour and a half to a mountain to see it. I prefer living here than, say, Sacramento. Ooooh. The humidity there is HORRIBLE. It felt like you were in a hot soup.

I wish I could mail it to you. My goal is to one day live somewhere where it never snows. I don't mind the cold much, without the snow, or the snow much, without the cold, but not the two together, and never on the roads.
