We just upgraded our 4 phones to iphone 5s and 5c. I'm a big android fan but our local carrier (Ntelos) didn't have the Galaxy 4 so switching to a new iphone made sense for me. Coming from a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, I am impressed by the iphone 5c. It is way faster, bets the pants off the Sony's pathetic 384mb free internal memory and the camera rocks. My complaints are that the 5c feels slippery. A good case is a must. I never used a case with my Sony and never worried about it. I'm not a fan of itunes at all. I don't like having to transfer music through their program. On the Sony I just hooked it up and used it like a hard drive. Another thing I like is the iphone will roam data and talk. On my Sony it would only roam talk so if there was no 3g I was out of luck.

I'm curious what others pay for their service
We have 4 iphones, each with unlimited talk, text, roaming, long distance and data
Total each month for everything $197

Downside is carrier is 3G but are working on 4G. Coverage for talk is good, data can be spotting in stores and certain areas. Roaming should aid in that.

$30 a month for unlimited text, 100mb of data and 75 minutes anywhere in Canada, plus free evenings and weekends. Since most of my internetting is done via my laptop or a wifi signal, it's perfect for me.

My wife's iPhone is on the T-Mobile one from Walmart. They say it's $40.00 a month unlimited talk, text and web for the first phone, but with taxes and such, the actual cost is $47.80 a month.

She mostly connects data through the wifi so she hasn't had a lot of 3g/4g experience on it. From what I understand though, T-Mobile's 4g coverage is the smallest in the US. 3g is everyhere, but I don't know that I'd want to put up with those speeds.

I have a company phone on AT&T, so no costs there.

My mom is on my plan, so there is my iPhone and her normal cell on the same plan. We share 450 minutes with unlimited messaging. Past that I have 3 Gb of data and she has international to talk to family overseas.

All for $150 a month with AT&T.

It's steep, but we couldn't find anyone who had international for cheaper, and we've had other service companies and they just don't compare in our area. I couldn't even carry a call inside my house with Sprint, so switching to AT&T where I can get service even up in the back country mountains has been amazing. (No, I don't need internet while camping or anything, but I like to go backpacking and my mom and I are planning on starting the fourteeners this summer, so cell service is nice to have incase something happens.)

Hubs and I only have prepaid cell phones. He has Straight Talk through walmart (he uses his a lot for work) $45 a month unlimited talk text and web. I have Verizon, since I rarely use my phone, mostly text. I usually only need a $20 messaging card every month.

We have Boost with the shrinkage option. Hubs pays $35 a month. I pay $45 because I haven't had it as long. Unlimited talk, text and data is included. If I upgraded to a 4G phone, it would another $10 a month (still with unlimited intertubez).

We're with T Mobile and paying about $125 US for two phones with unlimited text and data. Our minutes are something 700 or 1000 shared across the two phones. When we were with ATT I was paying nearly $200 so we switched over (we owned our phones). Once our phones are paid off with T Mobile we'll be down to about $95 after taxes.

We only use our cells for regular calls. Not texting.
We also have a house phone that is bundled and has our direct TV
and my service for the house computer.

We only pay $ 20 every 3 months for a 60 minute card. Our phones
have the double minutes and I usually can find a promo bonus code.
During the winter, I have to get my hubby a $ 40 card for 3 months,
because of his job. I did get a $ 30 card for 3 months for myself
this last time. When he retires next year, we will have to stick
to the 60 minute cards. At some point in time, I probably will get
myself a newer phone as mine is just over 5 yrs old. Only upgrade
will be to get one with triple minutes. We use tracfones.
I can text but am very slow with it, so I don't use that feature.

Cell phone service is intermittent at best here in the mountains, so we have the pay as you go plan through AT&T. We only use the cell phone when we go to town. There is a $1 surcharge for the first call made per day, and it is 10 cents a minute thereafter. We go through about $100- $150 a year. I don't text with it.

We pay $71 a month for our landline. There is no charge for long distance calls in the continental US.

Nothing. My mom buys cell phones for everyone. She pays for her, my sister's, mine, my stepdad's, my grandpa's, and my stepdad's mom's phone. All verizon on the same plan.

I can only use G'Zone phones. I kill anything else. These are made for the military. They are a little short on features but insanely durable. I've run them over with my truck or suve several times, dropped them on conccrete repeatedly, lost them in melting snow puddles, and sent them through the wash. I'm trying the G'Zone smart phone but I have my old phone just in case I kill it before it's time to get a new phone.

We have service with Verizon with unlimited minutes and texting. And more then enough data for both my husband and I. I use my android for everything, fb, texting, email, camera, internet, and even calling people... My husband does the same with his iphone. We don't have cable or a home phone so it's cells only. Hubby needs his for work they need to be able to contact him 24/7 whether he's home or not. And I used to have a dog walking business before we moved so I used it for that as well. It runs us about 155 a month.

We have AT&T. 2 dumb smartphones (Galaxy S3) with unlimited talk & text and sharing 10gb of data, a wireless home phone, and another wireless "home" phone for the biz, both of those are unlimited use. Total cost $262.93/mo

We had the option to get iphones but I refused, as I'm not going to use my fingerprint to unlock my phone. NOOOOO WAY! :paranoid: :tinfoilhat: :TFH: :hiding: :injail: :missing:

I'm with you on that.

My son was the only one to get the 5s which has the fingerprint technology. You can opt to unlock it the traditional way or with the fingerprint. I didn't see much useful difference between the 5s and 5c so wasn't worth the extra $100 our carrier charged for the 5s ($149 5s vs $49 5c) I hope over the next couple of years that the carriers just offer unlimited everything. Reminds me so much of when long distance started to be included in land lines. I do not miss those days or paying per minute for long distance.

How many have abandoned home phones and just have a cellphone now? We did that 3-4 years ago.

We finally made the switch about 3ish years ago and got rid of our landline. We'd had one bundled with our cable, but when we dropped the cable tv service we got rid of everything since we were rarely using the landline. Also, our entire family was on ATT at the time so we didn't see a point in having it since it didn't use any minutes to talk with them. I miss it, in a nostalgic sort of way.

We do not have a landline.

We live in an area that is not served by most types of internet. No dial up, no DSL, no cable tv.

So we got a verizon home fusion system.

I have my cellphone with unlimited talking and texts and 1 gig of data, plus 30 gigs of home data for $260/month.
