I have been needing a good dryer for my pom but keep putting it off. Well now with the woolies I need a good dryer.

I don't need one with heat because don't want to over heat my animals. So that makes things a little cheaper. But I do want a condensing nozzle to direct the air to more precise areas of the animal.

I have pretty much decided on this one http://www.petedge.com/product/Metro-Ai ... /46797.uts

But may change to this one http://www.petedge.com/product/Metro-Ai ... /43052.uts

All this decision making is giving me a headache.

Either one will work fine, Metro dryers are noisy though, wear ear plugs, cotton in critter ears helps a ton.
The QuickDraw may be heavy to hold up for extended periods though and possibly awkward for those hard to get at areas, with the hose on the other that's not an issue.

Both have a hose. The quick draw just gives an option of holding it as well.

We had a bunch of huge noisy dryers in the Kennel. I would turn them on to drown out all the dog barking. lol

I can't do that, the noise from either drives me nuts so I'm constantly wearing my earmuffs at work to stay sane. I look like an idiot but I can hear and I don't get a headache

I have a canister vacuum/blower I use. 3 HP is enough for dogs, and rabbits. Less than $60.

I like these ones because it leaves me hands free.....But I may want to buy a hose to go with it too......

There is always this one which is two speed.....

Sky you have not met my sisters Poms.... lol They are beautiful but with that thick coat they are a pain in the but to groom. It takes allot of air flow to separate all that hair. Never mind I see you put HP. I thought you meant FPM 3000. lol

And he is like a dirt collector but leaves his collection all over my floor. I have to sweep 3 times a day because of him.

MSD how noisy is yours? I want something I can take to shows with me and not get run out for making to much noise. Just thought of that. lol

__________ Mon Oct 08, 2012 3:39 pm __________

Just looking into the noise level on the B-Air bear dryer and it is considerably quieter than the metros. I would just need to purchase a nozzle like I want to go with it.

LOL. If it can blow the undercoat out of a german shepherd it's strong enough. I am scouting for some attachments to fit the hose.

The Double K is my favorite, whatever the size, but the Challengair 2000 with the variable knob is the bomb.

It is noisy, but not too bad, especially on the low setting, which is plenty strong enough for JWs. The newer models might be quieter. I believe Mina is a groomer (I know she competes, anyway!), and Kyle@theHeathertoft is too. Kyle hasn't been on for a bit though.

I bet! :p

My first job (taxable, anyway!) was as a "brusher/bather" when I was 15, and I got paid per dog. Later I managed that same grooming shop/pet store. :)

I can give a dog a haircut, but nothing like 3mina does for competitions!

I use an old metro Air Force commander 4HP. It's at least 10 years old, and still awesome.

For those looking for a cheaper route, I did just buy a shop vac at Home Depot that has a removable blower part. It is supposedly 5HP and feels SUPER strong. While I've been using the shop vac to clean up after bunnies I haevn't yet tried to blow one out with it. My rule is the more powerful the better. The 4HP blows mats right out of the angoras.

When I replace this dryer, it will probably be either with a K9 dryer, or else a Chris Christienson dryer. BUT I also use it for my dogs, so I don't mind buying a great piece of equipment for 2 purposes.

You ever see the ppl who sleep with them and burn the home down?

85% of the dogs I work on don't look like that either, I'd starve :p

If you were closer you could groom my dog. He has so much thick thick hair that its really a pain to groom him. Plus he is in need of a trim. I don't like doing it myself but No one else around here knows how to trim a Pom properly. I would absolutely die if I went to pick up my dog and he was half bald or cut with a puppy cut.
