I'm seeing people on here mentioning chocolate in litters where I can't see any chocolate kits. :? It's been confusing me.
But...I think this litter has both a

chocolate based agouti (sometimes called chocolate chestnut, or amber in rex)
A_ bb C_ D_ E_

and a black based agouti , (most often called chestnut or chestnut agouti, or castor in rex)
A_ B_ C_ D_ E_

If all goes well, I'll be able to show you guys some of the difference between the two. :D

DBA, you can see the difference in ear length on your kits compared to "normal eared" rabbits already!

How so? Are they longer or shorter? I've honestly never payed attention to it.

I think I finally have all four of the colors I've been trying to get in one litter.
The overall plan is to have ALL of my litters composed of nothing but these four colors.

From the left:

A_B_C_D_E_ chestnut agouti - black based agouti, wild rabbit color
A_bb C_D_E_ chocolate agouti - no black on the coat at all, amber
A_B_C_dd E_ dilute agouti, opal
A_bb C_dd_E lilac agouti, lynx, dilute chocolate agouti

Those are truly gorgeous babies, Zass!! Congrats! :D

Thanks Syber, but honestly, at this age, I think they are ugly, lol.
They look like someone drank a bottle of pepto and threw up in the nestbox.

__________ Tue Mar 17, 2015 6:43 pm __________

I just snapped a pic of my one week old Californian litter.

Mama, you crack me up!!!!

I'm sorry, but 4-7 day old baby rabbits...eh, so so
14-21 day olds, cute
3+ weeks, very cute.

12 hour old....ehhh, not so much.

Trying to climb back on to everyone's good side... I offer a peace offering of cuteness.

:rotfl: :rotfl:

Awww newborn popples make me want to start lactating again. ;)

I think they have adorable little smooshy faces and the way they push with their little feet... so what if they resemble little sausages? (We called them 'pot stickers' for the first week or two).

I do think they're cute though and want to see the colours you have dba!

When they are a week or so old and start getting dressed, not so naked, I will take more pictures of them.
