not eating/ acting strange

Okay, fed 0.3 ml of the gas drops (Recommended dosage to get the 20 mg simethicone) and added pedialyte to water since bunny still seems willing to drink on his own. Now to wait till morning to see if he has improved

    not eating/ acting strange

I realize I am hijacking someone else's thread but our problems are so similar that there isn't really a point in making a new thread. I have 12 week old standard rex baby that was also acting lethargic, hunched, and staying in place. Considering he stays in a colony style room and typically...

    Bringing Bunny on Trips

I have been on a couple of road trips before, leaving my bunnies behind. What I would do in those cases would be release them into my sunroom (concrete floor) and leave 5-6 dishes of food and water (enough for two weeks even if we are leaving for only 3 days) around for them. They never faced...

    Medium Critterz Chewzit Starter Pack

Normally I would love the chance to spoil my buns with toys, if I hadn't just spent a lot of money on chew toys for the birds so they don't chew my house down. Parrots are extremely quick in making a hole in your drywall and chewing off the door trim. :x

    17 babies!

Yes, I feed hay. Will probably add some sunflower seeds to her food as well for the extra energy. Thanks for the advice :)

-- Thu Apr 02, 2015 2:48 pm --

Today I went to give the nest box to mom as usual to feed the babies but she was not having it. There are 10 babies...

    17 babies!

Since this morning, three babies went AWOL. There are predators in the area so no chance of finding them. Two of the babies are obvious runts so will be culled. That leaves 12 babies. A much more manageable number but I still feel like its too many for one momma.

    17 babies!

Out of the initial 14, 6 survived. Most were lost because they escaped the nest and got too cold, not that they weren't fed properly. I guess I will have to check on her often to see how the babies are doing.

    17 babies!

Hi all! Its been a while since I last posted though some of you may remember that my bunnies had 14 babies. At that time I thought it was two does sharing one nest. Now I believe it was actually one momma bunny. This time I was keeping the girls separate and my NZW mom gave birth again. When I...

    Does sharing nest?

The kits are 2 weeks old now. the twitchy kit twitched for about a minute and then stopped and went back to normal. I was concerned because I don't think i did anything to cause it. wet cloth to wet eyelids and then gently pried them open. no medications or chemicals used

    Does sharing nest?

I was using a kitten litter pan but switched it out after losing 5 babies from escaping it. Currently the babies are in a cardboard box with a 5-6 inch lip so they cannot crawl out accidentally. There is also a heater placed in front of the box so they don't catch a chill. So far haven't lost...

    Keeping Pedigrees (Yuck!)

Very tempted to get one now. But will have to wait till I am truly prepared to breed rabbits to justify such a purchase.

    Keeping Pedigrees (Yuck!)

I see a lot of people raving about these pedigree software for rabbits but how useful is it for mutts? For colors that are not recognized by the ARBA? and does it have a weight tracker? Because even those who are breeding just for meat are still interested in maintaining efficiency in their herd.

    Does sharing nest?

So, another baby crawled out of the nest and disappeared. I ripped apart the whole room the kits were in and found nothing :( I'm down to 8 and I believe only one mom is feeding them. Also processed one of the bucks and plan on selling the two does after they have raised this current litter...

Who is breeding now? Either for 4H or Easter?

Not on purpose but my does probably are bred again... which means they would be the perfect age to rehome on Easter. Will cull the ones not of pet temperament though.

What is the youngest rabbit you have bred?

My does that gave birth a few days ago were purchased at the same time and gave birth at 4 1/2 months old... meaning they were bred at 3/12 months old. Thats young! AND they actually made a nest and have been feeding the babies so good instincts to boot. Course I have lost several to...

    screen names

I am an adult... that never grew up. My username is a spin off of the pokemon Delcatty and I twisted it to sound like a name, hence DelicaTESSY. Though oddly enough i keep thinking Delicatessen. I do enjoy cooking special ethnic foods though so it fits

    Does sharing nest?

Update. Another three kits escaped NZWs nest. Though the four in MR doe nest are still there and happy. Both does are feeding the babies but the kits with NZW keep escaping  Found the 3 escapees. One was still moving and became quite energetic once warmed up. The other two got warm too...

    Does sharing nest?

Thanks, did not know that they were family businesses. Though I like Bass website more than Klubertanz (hard to navigate) so would probably order from there.

    Does sharing nest?

I remember while searching for rabbit supplies a few months back I came upon a georgia business that would sell rabbit supplies though their website consisted of a single flyer. I would prefer to support my local businesses rather than the big names like Bass and Klubertanz for the convenience...

    Does sharing nest?

Just checked on the mini rex doe that i moved. found her in my little nest grooming her babies and a few of them wiggled under her for a quick meal. I was worried she might not recognize her babies were there but it seems she is caring for them. Fingers crossed this litter is successful. :D...
