    Reducing food waste

Thank you, I have been having the same problem. I tried raising the feeders and it helped a little. Now I have to pick up some golf balls.

I sell cervical dislocation tools, PM me interested. I find it less traumatic for both parties. It takes out a lot of the error.

Which one to cull, making space.

So far this is pretty intense breeding for me, maybe too much, but we will see. This has been a fun learning experience. Thank you for everyone's help. We have over 30 kits and it is just my wife and myself, with our first one on the way. I plan on giving a little away at first to a couple...

Only one popple from doe, should I transfer...

Thank you for the tips. Since every doe I have is on their first or second litter, I am giving them the 3 strike rule. I am looking forward to selectively breeding them.

Which one to cull, making space.

I have this horrible problem... too many rabbits. All 6 of my does are nursing between 2 days and 3 weeks. I am in the position now of having to get freezer a rabbit to make space in the grow out pen, one of the does is currently occupying the cage. Since I am just got started about 3-4 months...

Only one popple from doe, should I transfer...

Thank you for confirming that Zass. Doing some searching that is what I found too. Much more at ease now. She is a 2nd time mom and she raised her first litter of 5 wonderfully.

Only one popple from doe, should I transfer...

My NZ doe just had one single kit today. Pretty sad that is all she had. This is her second litter and the previous litter was 5. I want to breed her again, I don't see the point of now waiting 4-6 more weeks to breed her again. I just see it as a waste of time and feed to stop everything for...

Where to buy supplies for fodder production

Hello all. I have an idea to make a fodder system that floods and drains on a timer. I will still need to rinse seed, add seed, change water daily. I am wondering where everyone gets their parts for their systems. I am looking for overflows and flush mounted drains. Anyone have a online...

Feed and seed stores outside Northeast Phildephia

I am having a really hard time finding a supplier near me. I am right outside of Northeast Philadephia, the closest place is tractor supply about 40 minutes away. I usually get 4-6 50lb bags of pellets when I visit my mother-in-law in Lancaster since it is affordable there. Besides pellets, I...

My stacked cage setup- something different..

Thank you. I was going to start weighing her. Thanks for the numbers Zass. I had one litter born on wire and I will try by best to not have that happen again. Great news about the NZR. I am still working on getting my smaller. I have 6 does and 2 bucks. I want to get it down to 3-4 does and 2...

    Knife recommendation

I use Havalon Bolt Knife. It uses large replaceable razor blades. I don't have to worry about shapening anything. When the knife gets dull, just swap blades. It has made butchering so easy and precise. I think it is a little over priced for what it is. The blades aren't horriblely priced either...

What heat source do you use when it's cold?

I have been wondering if I should bring mine in. It is 8 degrees out right night. Which is the coldest it has been this winter. It likely won't get to much colder in my area. I have 2 litters that are under 5 days old. I have a tarp wrapped around 3 sides of the structure just to keep the wind...

My stacked cage setup- something different..

The link below is what I used to make them. They are 10x18. I would take some pictures but all the nesting boxes I made are being used right now. I used a brad nailer with 1 3/4" galvinized brads. It made attaching the sides very easy aand quick. A trick I did though was attach screen door...

    J-Clip unrolling

Yeah they are the cheapo ones. Worked for me though. Built 8 cages. Not at all ergonomic though, my hands hurt after building 3 cages. I didn't ever reuse the removed clips. They are cheap enough not to have to struggle to reuse.

    Unexpected litter...

I tried the towel method and flipping the doe on her back. They were drinking but not getting much milk. I tried the mom and another doe that was nursing. They didn't seem to ever get enough in them. I left them feed for 5 minutes each, twice a day, trying both does. They both died...

My stacked cage setup- something different..

This the end of build after many revisions. Its different than most setups but it suits my needs. When I eventually have some extra play money, I will be buying a 12x20 shed with a overhang for the rabbits. My existing shed is falling apart as you can see. A lot of time went into saving time...

    Dispacting and butchering tools

Hello everyone. I make dispatching and butchering tools. Due to the interest, I have made several more and they are ready to ship out. I left them unpainted so when you place your order they will be powder coated to your color choice. All can be wall, tree or bench vise mounted. The dispatcher...
