Info about Pan American Vet Labs' Vaccine for Pasteurella

That's horrible, your poor kiddo! I don't know if you've got them in your area/tried them, but the Danactive immune health yogurt drink and the Yakult yogurt stuff (for me they're in the dairy isle) have really, really helped with not getting sick as often. I have to explain to my kid that she...

Info about Pan American Vet Labs' Vaccine for Pasteurella

My other animals are vaccinated, but a point that I might not have made as clear as it should have been- I've got a compromised immune system. Small, common infections like pasteurella can send me to the hospital. The whole family caught the sniffles. No one else was sick for more than 2-3 days...

    Pumpkin?

If you have a good space to dry the vines/leaves, all curcubit vines and leaves are edible by rabbits, as well, and that can stretch the feed a bit longer, too.

feed only what you can grow

I agree that if you can avoid single feed, it's for the best, but you can single feed mulberry, sweet potato vines, and a few other plants and still get decent grow-outs. You can also pollard or coppice mulberry for better ease of access to the leaves, and you can force the twigs mid-winter for...

So, I visited a local feed mill...(not-so-natural diet)

I've actually been working for a couple years on the research for a book about feeding rabbits naturally. I've got 50 detailed plant profiles (illustrated) for building a permaculture style food forest, with a range of plants from zone 3-10, and a few that can stretch into 2 and 11. I realized...

    Flush-Mount Feeders

If it's enough to try YOUR patience, I think I would have gone strait to the loony bin on that one. Face into brick, just like this guy. :wr_brick:

Info about Pan American Vet Labs' Vaccine for Pasteurella

 Glad I'm not the only one who says that. I'm also glad that your snotty bunnies recovered, that's good anecdotal evidence that it'll help with immune system response issues even after initial infection.

Info about Pan American Vet Labs' Vaccine for Pasteurella

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play on on TV, but I'm a biology nerd that's spent most my life around hospitals and doctors. The doctors of my acquaintance always tell me, when they first meet me, that I should go to med school, and then once they get to know me a bit better, tell me that I would...

    Rabbitry Name (ARBA Registration)

I'm enough of a dork I am trying to come up with something that's funny. So far the winning choice is I Like Big Buns. There's a lot of food-related names floating around as possibilities, too, and enough playboy references that I'm in danger of spraining my eyes from rolling them so much.

    Update 5 April Silver Fox

I'm not ready for them yet, and still have no idea on how to get them to Texas, but I want those rabbits! They're absolutely lovely!

    Games Bunnies Play

Who Can I Pee On. I had a friend in HS who did rabbits for 4-h, she had a buck that somehow managed to pee on everything and everyone, despite barriers in his way, and another buck that somehow managed to poop on other rabbits through a poo-catcher. They never DID figure out how he did it, but...

One more brag on my daughter

Great job! I know how hard it is to try to raise a kid to have a better life than you did, breaking family patterns and all that jazz. It's so awesome to hear that she's doing so well!

    RE: making or losing money?

This seems really reasonable to me. I figure that a rabbitry, much like keeping bees, is something to get extra pocket money vs. make an entire living on, unless you do it on a truly massive scale. If you're making some money, the rabbits are paying for themselves, and you get all the benefits...

Building a rabbit barn... new question: PREDATORS!

I'll second the lattice + tarps will probably be fine in your area in winter. Buns handle cold pretty well, and after a couple years, YOUR buns will handle the cold YOU get a lot better. The joys of fast generations, right? Heat's a lot trickier.

What's a nestbox full of youngsters called in the winter??

Okay, hijack back to the first page (although I agree with everyone, power tools are awesome, and Grumpy is a genius with building nifty things) That entire line of does that come from Gala, that are all sweethearts and pop out an average of 8 kits each litter and are great moms? Why, you've...

    Tell me I"m CRAZY!!

My parents adopted a child they couldn't really take care of, and they never finished the paperwork properly. They were older and having health problems, but his home situation was so horrible they came in to rescue him anyway. He was taken away, and put back in the original situation because...

    Some scary stuff right here!!

Yes, and it makes no sense. Here is the reasoning: "If we spray these plants with roundup, they will DIE. So let's genetically modify them to resist this chemical, so we can spray them with even more roundup, and it won't KILL them." Now we are eating vegetables with so much toxic chemicals on...
