After a long, stressful moving day...

They're not going in the garage. Once we add 12 more cages there won't be any room for feathered things in there.

After a long, stressful moving day...

Truck not happy. Fernie is EXHAUSTED. The cages and droppings pans fought us the entire way today. At least I can use the trailer to pick up our hay this week, and then it will be ready for the transport cages setup to be installed. 15 - 18 hole transport trailer, should be nice when it's done.

After a long, stressful moving day...

The bunnies are ALL inside the warm garage now. With their watering system hooked up and functioning properly. Best part, NO MORE CLEANING DROPPING PANS!!!! No more pine bedding!!! A few crappy, exhausted pictures before passing out.

My first test with old man winter

Oh, come on. You could be up here with me! it was 4 degrees at 9am. Good ol Northern Wisconsin weather. On the bright side, it's a blustery 55 degrees in the garage. Them lucky rabbits...

    Finally a heater!

I have to put in a larger heater than that one, as the ones we have now aren't keeping the temperature where I want it. (the space is 30' x 25') so we're switching to a 240v industrial heater next weekend.

Licking buns lacking minerals ? Is this product suitable ?!

We use the same type, ones that are about 4" x 6". I put a whole one in each cage, by the looks of it each one should last 6-12 months, and I buy them by the case when they have them on sale, thus saving even more money.

    bringing babies inside questions

I considered bringing our litter into the house tonight, but when I gave Alice some cheerios and fed the rest, she was sitting on her hind legs growling at me, ripped the cage door open on me, and didn't stop growling until I gave her more cheerios. I felt above the furry nest and there was...

    Hanging vs. Stacked Cages

We have hanging cages, and each are spaced apart from each other. I use 10' lengths of 1/2" conduit, drill holes for hanging wire, and put 3 cages per section, 2 cages high. For underneath, we use corrugated metal roofing, cut into 3' lengths and fastened together to make 10' wide, supported...

    Finally a heater!

Keep electricity costs down? Why? I only used 4000kwh last month... Yay for heaters!

    Wire Nest Boxes

I use strips cut from my scrap 2 x 4 wire. I cut 2 pieces, and attach one to each back corner of the box. Run them through the cage wire, and bend them to hold the box in place. Removable, reusable, and cheap.

    Wire Nest Boxes

I build my own wire nest boxes out of 1/2" x 1/2" wire. Never had a problem. We just use regular cardboard that we ALWAYS have laying around, and cut a "U" that fits in the walls and floor, all one piece. Since we have our boxes attached to the front of the cages, we can easily peek in and see...

    Games Bunnies Play

Oh, then there's the "I'm impatient and want your attention NOW" so I grab the door in my mouth and quickly flip it upwards, ripping it out of your hand and you can't catch it in time and it comes back down and hits me in the head as I'm trying to get to you. Alice plays this one at least 4...

I had to put a cat on the payrol today...

We have 3 black cats... Lucky, Hokus, and Merlin... Along with Merlin's brother Toby, who is almost like a bengal pattern grey and black, and Saide who is a calico colored +20lb lump. No mice around here. Oh, and then there's Apples, the neighbor's cat, who is almost the same color as Sadie, who...
