    Cooking Rabbit Properly

:offtopic: You do now. Years ago, all I had to do was show my driver's license and away I went, into the land of hockey and maple syrup (no offense, neighbors ;) )... Now, you have to have a passport for a land border crossing. I have a passport card with a RFID chip in it, which zooms through...

    Winter weather watering

Also, consider an in line heater. might be cheaper to run one cold line out, then split it in two and run one to a tankless in line water heater. Then you could have all the hot and cold running water you wanted out there.

    Are rabbits good pets?

We have one, who if after a few tries doesn't produce a litter, I'm gonna neuter him and keep him as a pet. He loves to be held, will snuggle into me and loves being petted and scratched. With that type of personality, I can't see him going to camp.

Do smaller litter size = quicker grow to butchering size?

We had 2 litters, one born 9/10 the other 9/11. the first had 8 and lost 4, the other had 7 and lost 0. The buns from the litter of 4 are noticeably larger and heavier than the litter of 7. JMO.

    Sexing. Help? Pictures.

So, after putting on my glasses, and standing out there staring at bunny hoo hoos, I think we got them sorted right. The final tally is: Does: 4 Bucks: 7 And, we lucked out... The cute one that everyone just LOVES: Is a doe! :cheer1: :cheer2: BTW, we're (hopefully) due again, beginning...

Anyone have cages set up on a deck?

I would hang them under, and use some wood lattice, and/or plastic to provide a windbreak.

Do you try to control competition in your area?

In all the searching we have done, I am the only one around for at least 30 miles. I have yet to find another rabbit breeder "in the area". I actually wish I had someone else in the area. Be nice to have someone with bunnies to visit.

    Telly why... sell for $5?

I have 2 places I go to get stock for my meat program. I pay between $10 and $15 per rabbit. I don't sell ANY of mine for less than $20, even as pets.

Watering system PVC schedule#40 pics. Beginning to end.

I use a submersible aquarium heater in my bucket. Harerazer, check out Tractor Supply. They have pond pumps that are magnet driven, no oil in them. Those are the ones I use for my systems. Also, put a tablespoon per gallon of apple cider vinegar in your water. It will keep the nasties away...

    My morning surprise...

It was a good thing I had our dog out with me, and not the neighbor's dog. Their dog is not very animal friendly, and we would most definitely had a destroyed garage and one less bunny.

    My morning surprise...

My usual morning routine consists of putting the kids on the bus, then I get my coffee, and go out to check the rabbits in the trailer, then check the ones in the garage. This morning, I went and checked on the ones in the trailer, and after making sure they were set for the day (especially the...

Bite/Scratch? Looks like a scab to me?

Sorry, I must have missed the "treatment options" We have absolutely no iodine here at all, which is surprising. I used some neosporin, and put her back in with the litter. We'll check it again in the morning. If it reopens for some reason, I can always remove the scab area and put 2 stitches in...

Bite/Scratch? Looks like a scab to me?

So, I went out and used the small groomer/shaver I keep in the supplies to remove hair from the area. We then brought her inside, and I applied warm compress. After warming the area for a minure, I went to examine it, and it burst open, with all of it's pus-volcano-ness... I drained it, and it...

Bite/Scratch? Looks like a scab to me?

Went out tonight and discovered this on one of the ~7 week old buns. Looks like a scab to me. Consensus? If not, what is/could this be?
