    kudzu vs. poison ivy??

 I guessed poison ivy because I have noticed myself that it is difficult to tell the two apart. Both tend to have three leaflets, and these can vary in shape from "entire" (just plain leaf shape, no lobes or serrations or anything) to mitten-shaped, to deeply lobed.

    kudzu vs. poison ivy??

My guess would be poison ivy, but yeah.

    Second kindle preparations

That's a nice litter! :) Day 30/31 is an average... they shouldn't kindle too much before or after, but sometimes you have does that help make the averages.

RabbitTalk Handicrafts Thread. What do YOU make?

Nymphadora, WOW, what beautiful work!!! :fainting: I am constantly looking up tutorials too! :P Zass, your digital art is amazing, and I have admired your tanning expertise for quite some time now. :D Much of my sewing is posted in the "Sewing projects" thread that was started last...

    Second kindle preparations

It's sounding great so far! :P Some does will clean up their nest boxes by removing dead kits. My retired doe used to line any dead kits up at the front of the box (but still in it). Others will do nothing, and you have to go through the nesting material thoroughly looking for dead kits --...

You can do it! ....At least I hope so?

Letting him watch an experienced buck breed a doe can help... and so can putting that doe in with him right after she's been bred by the other buck. :)

    Kids Only Discussion Thread

Just wanted to let y'all know that Galadriel and Bunny-Wan Kenobi have left to go to a youth camp a couple of hours away. They'll be back Saturday. :)

Can DE be used on a kitten?

Just be careful on her face, stopping short of her eyes and nose. The DE will work the rest of the way into the fur around those as she moves and bathes. You can dust your furniture and carpet with the DE, and then vacuum it out. I'm not certain how long you leave it, but the info should be...

Eye issue-Any ideas what this is?

I know Pasteurella can affect the eye and cause something like a cataract. I'm not sure what else can cause it.

    Blood or red urine

We got home once to a rabbitry that looked like a crime scene. The rabbitry was winterized, so the open wire fence side had visqueen covering it. Well, I do not exaggerate when I say it looked like a chain saw murder had happened. Fine to medium blood spray all over the visqueen, which was...

    Big surprise this evening...first kindle!

Glad you could do the babysaver extensions! :) Climbing out of the nest starts soon after the eyes open, like she said, but kits can get pulled out of the nest if they don't let go when mom's done nursing. Hopefully she'll get the idea of nursing pretty soon. One doe we had to hold in her...

    Big surprise this evening...first kindle!

Aw, they are such nice looking babies! :D Maybe tease out that cotton some more, so it's really fluffy and airy. It'll make it easier for them to all pile on and under, and keep together so they stay good and warm. You can make a depression in the hay and then line it with cotton, and...

    Help

Does the breeder use sawdust? I've seen stuff like that around kit nostrils only when there's been a problem, and only a couple of times. I would not consider it normal. I would remove the sawdust (it doesn't take much in the way of small particles to cause respiratory problems in tiny...

    Your thoughts on pellets

You're welcome! :) Sounds like your pellets are more dense than mine. What are you feeding, out of curiosity? I'm feeding Country Acres, considered actually a rather low-quality feed by Purina. Just one of those cases where my particular rabbits do better on the not-as-good stuff than they...

    Big surprise this evening...first kindle!

Congratulations!!! :mbounce: Sounds like she's done great so far! A good many things have to be done right to end up with a nest full of warm popples! I'm assuming there's fur in there... warm Florida nights are not warm enough for newborn kits. You can give the doe fresh parsley, too, to...

    Your thoughts on pellets

Keep in mind that the 2 - 3 ounces are probably intended to be by weight, not volume. 2 - 3 ounces by weight could end up being a half cup of food, more or less, and would vary depending on the food. Mine weighs 5 ounces per cup. My bucks get a bit less than a cup of food per day, or about 4...
