Need Help! Can't Find Dura-Pen ANYWHERE (trying to treat vent disease)

To put it simply we need to treat our entire herd (8 possibly 9) but cannot find meds anywhere because of this ******** and people panic buying. So, does anyone know where to find Dura-Pen online? (No stores have it) or another affective treatment for vent disease? Don’t yell at me for not...

Buck never fell off--was it a fail?

Not all bucks fall off, but that doesn't mean the doe isn't bred. One of my best bucks was a "gentile breeder" as I like to call them. If the doe lifted well, she should be good as bred. You can wait a week and put her back in, if she doesn't lift, grunts, is aggressive/agitated those are a tell...

Nest Box Eye? What should I do?

It's hard to tell from this photo. You will have to gently open the eye and see if the eyelid/s are curling into the eye. If it is the outer eyelid that is affected it will look somewhat like this. Almost like the eyelid just looses its strength and gives up. The condition can cause weeping...

Nest Box Eye? What should I do?

It is not uncommon for their eyes to just get a little crusty. I just wipe away any crust with a damp Q-tip in the mornings until it stops. If the eye is not crusty than looking for inflammation and make sure the eyelid is not rolling under (aka entropion)

    vienna vs. dutch

Do all Dutch rabbits have the Vienna gene? (And that’s why they have the markings they do and are prone to Heterochromia and blue eyes) I always thought that rabbits with the “Dutch” pattern had to carry the Vienna gene to be able to have that pattern. But, someone recently told me different...

    Goal Setting

I would start selling manure the first year, that stuff piles up quick and sells fast. What we do is, once the feed sack is empty that means its on the ground in pelleted gold, then we fill it back up with poop, stalk pile at the back of the yard till the beggining of spring, and sell for $5...

    Colony for the summer

Disclaimer: I'm not always the greatest at math, feel free to correct any mistakes. The buck to doe ratio is a bit off, usually you want one buck for every 3-5 does. With that many rabbits you going to need a L O T of space as well to void fighting, overcrowding, and unsanitary conditions. It...

    Greetings from the UK

I’m glad you are into the rare/less popular breeds. Do you have an idea of what breed you are interested in? I’ve always like Belgian Hares and Rhinelandera, two rare/unpopular yet absolutely beautiful breeds. I guess it’s a little late for marry Christmas so happy new year!

Multiple Health concerns, need help. ))graphic images((

This genital deformation has now happened to my other breeding buck, Kieth, who is Shiro's brother. It also looks like it could be staring to happen to UFKD5, Kieth's son. none of these rabbits have been in a cage with any other animal (to my knowledge) sense this thread was created. I'm going...

Patchy Fur in 3 day old kit?

That's normal. It could be one of two things 1. their wrinkles are moist because they have sticky moist little baby folds 2. The furs has not grown in thick enough yet to create an even layer when the skin folds.

Rabbitry record keeping apps for phone use??

I haven’t tried it myself, but WhosDue seems to be a good one for basic pedigrees from the description and review. I’m not sure there is an app/mobile site yet that meets ALL the criteria you are looking for. On the flip side though, with the right advertising it could be a good business...

    Time of day for breeding?

I breed whenever I have time to. Like others have said as long as they are “in the mood” they will breed. With that said, rabbits are crepuscular, meaning they are most active seeing dawn and dusk. So if you are having trouble breeding try this. Feed at 6:30 A. M. (Or at sun rise) So they have...

Shiro is 4 years and 7 months old. He has been in perfect health his hole life until this last year. This summer I noticed that he and his brother (Kieth) were loosing weight and their fur and flesh condition was going down hill. This was quite concerning because our bucks don’t usually start...

Your thoughts for a meat herd?

I don't mind having a bit of fat to help keeping the meat moist, but it was too much fat. It got to the point of health concerns, especially for my breeders. So, along with feed change I also started giving them a little more time in pens for exercise.
