NZW offspring: agoutis with steel

I bred my NZW buck, Clue, (who has many many generations of white behind him) to my black doe, Heaven, who the offspring of a NZR doe and a self black mini Rex. Why? Because I was curious as to what colors Clue would throw. When I breed Heaven back to a NZR, she throws agoutis and reds. When I...

Continued Eye Trouble.......update and new info and pic!

I am having probably the same problem with my mini rex buck. Weepy eye, dandruffy flakes where the moisture dries, hair loss around the eye, and no snuffles symptoms. Taking away the hay didn't help, and switching Trooper back to his old feed hasn't either. His teeth look okay. I would put...

Not Just Contemplating Dutch... bought one!

Whenever a rabbit person starts throwing out familar phrases, I always say, "Oh I read that on RT, too!" Either they give you a strange look or squeal and shout out their username, lol!

__________ Wed Feb 24, 2016 10:23 pm __________

Whenever a rabbit person starts...

    Sweet Gum seed balls

I've done the search here on RT and the leaves and bark have been sucessfully fed to rabbits with no discernable bad effects. What about the seed balls? The rabbits enjoy a variet of pine cones, but I wonder if the seed balls currently raining from the trees would be ok?? Anybody have any...

    What's yalls thoughts?

Granted, positioning is a lot, but Doe 2 looks to have pinched hindquarters. Notice the indentation by the tail in the hip area? That may bring on birthing troubles--or not. I don't know about Calis, but the NZs they want the rabbit to look like a basketball when positioned, like you could...

Finally got some Rex Update: bad news

My heart goes out to you during this time of trying to decide what course to take!!! I had to cull a favorite buck of mine two weeks ago due to questionable health, and while I am sad, I am not regretful since it protects the rest of my herd. Hugs to you!!!!!

Getting to know my new bunnies

I have a doe who does not appreciate being around people (but she's not mean, she doesn't want anything to do with people, she likes being a rabbit) but she is susceptible to bribery!! She only gets treats if she gets them from my fingers. It has made a difference in the levels of her skittishness.

    4 week old kits! Help!

Welcome MR55!! I see the wonderful Maggie got in ahead of me and left excellent advice for you. The only think I would add is to definitely follow the oatmeal and hay regiment as it really safeguards against kit loss between 4-8 weeks as they transition to adult food.

Kit with NBE--the lid is damaged? Mercy cull?

MSD, the eye is normal and there isn't any ulceration in the cornea itself. I've been applying neomycin ointment to it in case it was a case of eyelid that has crusties stuck to it misshaping the lid. I think I may wait a few days and see if the eye continues to get infection boogery and cull...

    Creeping goopy hay eye??

His teeth that I can see are okay. The lethargy isn't any worse, but if Trooper's prior activity was a 10, then he's a 5 right now. He's interested in food, poops normally, pees in his litter box. I've withheld the hay but have given him some dried willow to nosh on. I cleaned up his eyes again...

Kit with NBE--the lid is damaged? Mercy cull?

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures to post, I don't have four hands which is what is needed for me to do that. I have a kit with prior nest box eye, which I cleaned up and it has mostly recovered. However.... as much as one tries to do the right thing, something else may pop up. The kit in...
