Yep, me too. Some of my hens actually have a darker copper with just a couple of spots but if there's a spot it's pretty much gonna lay an egg. Maybe posters aren't the wild like I have though. I think they have white wings and I have never sexed those by feathers because I don't trust myself so I vent sexed.
I do have white wings in the incubator. The ones pictured where of mixed breeding of what I am not sure, but nearly all have white wing feathers. Pictures are of same "rooster" at 3 weeks old just a few days after I picked them up.
I have 4 little babies in the brooder this morning. The first one hatched early yesterday morning. and the last one had hatched about 10pm last night. I took them out of the brooder this morning as all where dry and running around. I went back to check the last egg and it has pipped. So keeping it going for another day at least. I had 9 eggs incubating, 4 candled unfertilized at lockdown so it was just the last 5 eggs in lockdown.

Last egg didn't make it. Started to smell something off and found it in the incubator (located in my bedroom). Chick was fully formed but didn't absorb the yolk fully and the yolk was green when I opened the egg to see what happened. So it probably pipped yesterday but couldn't hatch. Might have rolled the egg when I took out the other shells and chicks.

I decided today was the day to harvest 2 of the extra 9 males. So we are going to have some quail for dinner, going with Grilled quail on Spanish rice with mixed veggies. Will update with a pic once I make dinner. Right now the birds are in a basic brine.
Other half decided to have creamed corn instead of mixed veggies.
Of the 32 Jumbo quail eggs received, only 12 made it to lockdown. 14 where non fertilized and the other 6 were broken during shipping. I hope all 12 hatch.
I feel your pain. I've never gotten more then a small portion of the shipped eggs I've bought. The mail ruins them.
I was talking with my SO and we have decided that if we need to ship any quail in, it will be live birds. At least then we know what we have going forward. I'm just hoping that all 12 hatch and that I have plenty of hens to lay eggs. I'll incubate the eggs that my hens lay from here on out.

I had read most have low hatches so when we started I ordered day old chicks from Loudounberry farm Leesburg VA. for little more than the cost of eggs. I worried about them traveling so far (upper Midwest) They had guaranteed them , but all arrived in good shape. they even took my phone calls and answered questions and gave suggestions. I know the years may have brought changes in price and policy, think I read they may no longer ship to western states because of postal problems. But I was more than happy with my Jumbo quail and how our post office handled them, and didn't have to worry about bad eggs. I have been hatching eggs from my hens since then to keep covey going. I recommend checking out Loudounberry farms for a nice start.
Thank you @dlynn. Unfortunately they no longer ship to the western states. They do have great rates for their chicks and they do local pickup as well. So far I have had 3 hatch since midnight. Two came out as English Whites and the last one that hatched at 7AM was a dark chick, so 3 of 12 so far.

Sounds like you'll have a pretty mixed flock. Mine are all Pharohs

Unfortunately that is very true. I did find someone who is local (within an hours drive) who does have Jumbo coturnix. I will be picking up some eggs from her next week. I have had a total of 8 hatch. I was supposed to have only White Wing jumbo quail with these hatching eggs but just goes to show that nothing is guaranteed. I do not mind having a pretty flock as I am not selling hatching eggs currently as I am first building my flock to begin with. I do have standard quail that I plan on pickling the eggs and selling those and using them for baking as that is my largest flock, 18 adults, 4 juveniles, and 36 eggs now in lockdown.

Well I have some good news. Of my standard eggs that I had incubating, 31 of 41 hatched. I do not know what they will feather out to be yet but I will update as they do feather out. Here is a pic of the them all crowding around the feeder next to the brooder plate. I'll try to get pics of the individual chicks that are different from each other.
The Jumbo babies are doing really well and a few of them will come and lay on my hand when I put it into the cage with them. The Jumbo babies are kept separate from the standards simply because of size and age. The Jumbos have 3 days on the standards.

Well the little pipsqueeks don't like to stay still long enough to get pictures and I have not had the time to spend get said pictures.
On another note my adult quail have finally started laying eggs, I got 3 little eggs today. We also have 1 roo that has begun to crow.

Was cleaning out the brooders and managed to get some pics of the little pipsqueaks.
I am definitely interested to see who everyone feathers out to look like.
