$570 in the red. Plus 640 in feed & cage purchases.
Make it 1,210 in the red.
Fudge...

Removed a ton of fur from a few nests.

Neighbor indirectly killed one of my LGD yesterday morning. Culls are going to take forever to use up now.

whether in the red or not, which you will eventually be caught up cause you are stocked up ha, when things get really crazy you will have meat. and something to barter with. people who never thought they would have rabbits just may be getting rabbits.

I haven't added it all up but I'm seriously in the red.
But my purpose isn't making a profit, it's caring for my animals.
No regrets... yet.

Amber seems to of stopped feeding her kits. All wet, thin and cold today. 2 dead.
Moved them to 3 different nests, hopefully some survive.
Will repeat the breeding, but if she fails again, she'll be culled.

I have a "bottle feeding kit" with formula that I bought off Amazon, just in case... but didn't need it.
Have the same on hand for horses but haven't needed that either. Obviously the bottles & nipples are "slightly" larger for horses. 😉

Had zero luck hand feeding. They all refuse and slowly starve to death.
Wish there were clear sites showing what to use and how to install stomach tubes for feeding.

My wife has a special talent for that. She even saved a baby squirrel that fell from a tree.
Poor thing didn't have fur or eyes open yet.
I didn't think he had a chance but she used a syringe & kitten formula.
He grew up just fine.
He was quite friendly, rode the dog around the house etc.
Then one morning as my wife was pouring her first cup of coffee... he greeted her by climbing up on her "like a tree" (her words not mine) and he was promply evicted to the backyard.
Can't really say I blamed her, I don't do mornings either.
As the sun was about to go down, I called him back inside. That became a routine until... he found himself a girlfriend.
For awhile, he'd still come to say "hi" when I called him but he wouldn't come inside for more than a few minutes.
Eventually he refused to come inside at all.
He hung out in the backyard for a few years. I don't know what happened after that.
Regardless, it was pretty cool he survived.
She did the same with ferrets that the mother abandoned.
Oh... one very important method for feeding with a syringe.
Remove the plunger! Place your finger over the opening, then let it drip a little bit so it creates a vacuum. Then they can suck the milk out without blasting them. It's nearly impossible to use the plunger!

Attaching usda rabbit minimum cage sizing for my future reference when people ask about it on FB.
Hopefully, my math is correct.
