    New business, any advice?

Thanks for all the advice. I have been looking at quicken, but there are a few others that look good, too. :? I have a bad habit of trying to process way to much information all at once. I am having my building custom built. The building itself should be finished around Thanksgiving and we...

    New business, any advice?

Hi, I haven't been on much because I've been in the midst of starting a coffeeshop in my hometown. I know a few people on here own their own businesses so I'm trying to get reviews on payroll/accounting software for small businesses. Does anyone have any good suggestions. Reading about...

    Which breed?

I don't know if you've considered them, but I've had my best luck with Californians. My calis are the best moms with the largest litters and I am getting to the point where my growout rates are really good. I got rid of my NZs, but I do plan on looking for better ones in the future. I'm sure...

I don't know how many animals I have.. and a physical oddity

I "could" know how many animals I have since they are all on site and only mine (nothing feral running around that I would count), but I don't know off the top of my head. I would have to do the math. Chickens: older ones 6 hens/1 rooster/one mama hen with 1 chick in the back yard = 9...

Finally doing it - canning rabbit

Ok, well, I'm an idiot I forgot about 3 vacuum bags I had put some of the rabbit in that were still in the fridge when I thought I was finished canning. It's gonna be crockpot bbq'd rabbit for supper. Soooo, those 4 rabbits did go a lot further than I thought they would. If I decide I like the...

Finally doing it - canning rabbit

Not sure how it turned out until I actually eat some, but I finally pressure canned my 4 adult breeders that got culled. From those 4 rabbits I ended up with 5 quart jars of canned meat and 2 quart jars and 5 pint jars of soup starter I made by making stock from the bones, picking off all the...

    We bought a house!

We can get up to $35 for a laying hen around here, which would actually pay for a lot of storebought chicken, but yeah, it's not as healthy. Chickens have several years of good production and it can take 4-7 months or more depending on the season to get one to laying age, so I wouldn't get rid...

    We bought a house!

I did when we bought our house. The unspoken rule is that when you put a house on the market it is no longer "your" house so get used to people seeing your stuff. Most sellers will get their belongings down to bare minimum for showing and store their stuff. Taking pictures is not uncommon...

    I'm calling it a success!

See, they may be easy for YOU or anyone else on God's green earth, but I am seriously lacking in gardening skills and have yet to successfully grow much of anything. I swear, if it's not a late freeze, it's a drought, or the blistering sun or rodents, or goats that manage to get out or a dog...

    I'm calling it a success!

Despite coming from a long line of farmers, my veggie gardens have been less than spectacular. I had one year of an awesome tomato crop, but that is the extent of my success. BUT, today I got my first little zucchini and it actually tastes good and no vermin ate it first!!! Yeah, I'm totally...

ALL THE GREAT REASONS to raise rabbits for meat.

Mostly this and if I am raising rabbits instead of eating store bought chicken, then I am not perpetuating the factory production of frankenchickens raised in less than conscionable conditions. and 2) I need a high protein diet and rabbit is tasty and lean.
