    Is there a market for.....

I would LOVE to have a test breeding rabbit! Like others, being a rew I would worry that I was possibly being lied to about what it really is, but, from a reliable source (such as yourself), I would buy one in a heartbeat.

    Eye Color Help

I can't get a good picture to save my life. There always ends up being some light reflecting off the eye that makes it look like there's more blue than there really is. So, I made a picture in Microsoft paint to try and illustrate it. Please note that there is nothing wrong with his eyes, I just...

Stumped on this Mini Lop's color!

Just went through this color guide: http://www.hoppinherdofhares.com/lopcolorguide.html Could it be a blue chinchilla (squirrel)? Maybe a dark sable point based on the picture, but I'm stretching here.

Stumped on this Mini Lop's color!

My first instinct was blue steel, then I read the text of the post. Next guess was chinchilla, but that doesn't seem right, either. I don't think frosty, but I could very well be wrong. Whatever he is, I love his head! I think what I like most about the minis is the type before color thing.

    Eye Color Help

That's what I was afraid of. This is the only Vienna-like thing that has ever popped up in these lines. Is it possible that it's super far back and this is the only way it'll ever show. Zass, I checked and, yes, there are at least five different chinchilla ancestors.

    Eye Color Help

It's always something with rabbits, isn't it? I have a litter that is about four weeks old. When I went out today, I noticed that the one has a blue wedge in his brown eyes. I have never seen this and have no idea what is going on. He is a black false charlie (solid doe to broken buck), but he...

    New Pedigree Creation Software

I am sooo excited to see this! There is definitely a desire for an iPhone/android app for rabbit management, but there is nothing out there. I can't wait to watch how your program progresses. Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone!!

    Getting Started

Frecs, thanks for sharing! I'm glad to hear that you keep your poultry without commercial feed. Mine don't seem wild about it, so I figured they'd be happy with whatever. I'm looking into sprouting, but I have a lot of trouble with plants, so we'll see. I have mulberry trees and I love willow...

    Getting Started

Thanks for your input! Do you know where I can find a list of fat percentages in different animal feed ingredients? I found one with the protein percentage, but I can't find fat. Should I cut out the BOSS then? Or maybe try for wheat or barley instead of oats? I'm going to call my feed store...

    Getting Started

I've recently decided that I want to be as done as possible with commercial feeds for my animals. Between dog food and rabbit feed, there have too many recalls and reports of animals getting sick or dying. I spent yesterday reading through the this section of the forum, but I still have some...

Question about using 2 bucks on same doe

According to an article I just read, if your rew doe is solid and your rew buck is solid, you will be able to tell which buck is the sire. Since solid to solid will only produce solids, if the entire litter is solid, then the solid buck is the sire. If even one kit is broken, the broken is the...

    Ready to Learn More

I did look at the links, but unfortunately some of the links no longer exist and the others are along the same lines of the article from the ARBA book. The link to the book looked promising, but I'm not ready for that yet  That Nature Trail website is awesome! I'm working on getting...

    Ready to Learn More

Now that I'm on a holiday break from classes, I would like, in part, to use my time between semesters to expand my knowledge of genetics. I just read the article on color genetics in the book the ARBA puts out called Raising Better Rabbits and Cavies. It was a very good article and made me feel...
