    Recipes!

Definitely prized bits here too, especially the livers. When we butcher here, I set the deep fryer to heating up before going out to kill rabbits. I know we are going to want breaded and fried livers ASAP. That is a butcher day treat around here. I dip the livers in seasoned (salt, pepper...

    Wolfdog

Wolfdogs are each different and, a lot of that has to do with how much wolf and how much dog they actually are but, it's also early socialization and constant training. They are energetic, itllegent and, do actually grow up, unlike a dog that basically gets stuck as a young teenager for life and...

    Using a pressure cooker

http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/63400- ... .aspx?c=26 There you go, #63 lids. Not as inexpensive as other sizes but, at least you can still get them.

    Using a pressure cooker

I don't use Ragu so no but I do use None Such brand Mince Meat Jars to can in - they are Mason jars. Some pickles come in mason jars too. Even some mayonnaise jars are fine but, look for the seam. If the jar has an obvious seam, you do not want to pressure can in it, it has a higher change of...

    Alfalfa grass clover hay

Just be sure there is no black spots, white or gray dust in the hay - those are all molds and not good for rabbits at all. Other than that clover mix hay is fine, jsut have to be wary of mold, and keep it very dry. I feed fresh and dry clover, no problem.

    Rescue Rats

Nice looking rats. They do need a water bottle and rat cubes (too large looking pelleted feed for rats.) it's high protein and, forces them to chew and keep those teeth in control. (they are subject to overgrowth similar to rabbits teeth) Rats also like a hiddy hole with soft bedding material to...

    keeping the smell down

Advertise it for a fair price on garden groups, like CL or FB. I'm sure somone needs good compost for spring planting.

Do you eat giblets like these?

I'd eat those, no cocci spots so, once cooked those are fine.

got a grinder/sausage stuffer! tips and recipes welcome!

You have collagen casings, those are nice. No need to wet them and, they are uniform diameter and don't split as easily as hog casings do. Just thread them onto the stuffer tube, give the end a twist and clip with a clothespin to hold it closed while you stuff it. Once the moisture form the meat...

    Using a pressure cooker

I agree, best kitchen tool to have if you raise meat animals, hunt, fish or have a garden, or just want to buy the tougher, less costly meats and get dinner on the table w/o having the oven or crock pot going all day. I have a 21 qt All American and, the little Wear Ever like Dayna's. I use them...

    bubble bees

es, you have to feed them properly but even doing it all right, they waste a lot of feed, and there isn't much meat on them for the time and effort into them. I tried, the quail did well here, just not worth the cost. 25.00 per 50/lbs of feed, going throughI agree 2 bags a week with 250 birds...

    bubble bees

I had couurnix too, well until I ended up with about 300 eggs per day - still have cases of pickled quail eggs and, for the hassle of butchering them for the tiny bit of meat isn't worth it to me. The last 100 of them ended up wolf food. Cute as chicks but, a messy, feed wasting hassle after a...

    Cross breed vigor

I like the Cali buck on NZ doe best for fryers but pure NZ does well too, just not quite as fast growing. I have a Cali doe just for replacement stock and a NZ buck for both meat production and replacement stock. I have done NZ on Chin and NZ on Cali as well and those are not bad but the best...
