Hoping she's getting back to her old self soon...Sorry about the kits, sounds like you are dealing with it well and have a good attitude.

I didn't think of putting her in a smaller enclosure for kindling. Is it common to do that or just depends on the doe?

Lots of people colony raise with no problems. Until she kindles successfully in a nest that is what I would do. Once she is a seasoned doe, you could try her again in a larger space.

So glad to hear you are going to give her another chance. Hoping she's back to her ole self real soon and the next kindling will be a little bit easier on her and you and result into healthy popples.

Mama bun is back to eating and drinking but is rebuilding her nest and pulling a lot of wool. She keeps going over to the nest and sitting. Does this usually mean a stuck kit or could she be upset about loosing her babies? I have given her sage and mint to help dry up milk. I know sage helps to expell kits. My hubby went to get lavender too. She isn't excited about me being around her right now. I've tried feeling around but she gets feisty with me.

Glad to hear your doe is eating and drinking again. Maybe now that she's feeling better, her motherly instincts are kicking in even though she already kindled? And it's not a stuck kit? Wish I could help, but know others here have been through this and could give you some insight.

After all she's been through, can truly understand why she's not cooperating and being feisty.

Also maybe it's time to breed her? She's now feeling better and know that others do breed after kindling because it's the best time for a doe to catch.

Fingers crossed all is well.

I would keep an eye on her. Karen may be right and her instincts have just finally kicked in, but she may have more kits, especially if she is a larger breed of doe.

I have had several does do this after losing a litter the first time. It is like it just sort of "clicks" and they start nesting like crazy.

Just wanted to add that you can bag most of the wool she's pulling now, and keep it in case you need it later with her or another doe. :)

Thank you all so much for your help and support! She has stopped pulling wool and is acting totally herself again! I am so relieved she is doing well! So now I am confused... I don't think she had GI stasis or wool block. But I still don't understand why she stopped drinking water almost completely. She lost a lot of weight. Like her hip bones are really sticking out. When she gets back to a healthy weight, I will breed her again.

I have another doe on day 27. She had 2 litters before coming to live with me. The breeder said she was an excellent mother, raised 9 healthy kits each time. She has built her nest and stopped eating and she is drinking way more water than my other doe did. I'm excited for this litter and really hoping for healthy baby buns!

Glad to hear your doe is acting totally herself again. I'd be confused too why she stopped drinking. My thoughts would turn to GI stasis or wool block too. Poor girl, hoping she puts the weight on that she lost. And can have an easier time being a Mom.

Congratulations on your other doe, building her nest, getting ready for those popples. Fingers crossed for an easy delivery and lots of healthy popples!
