My sister in law posted about a kit that has a injury on its back. Well its still there. We have no idea what cased it or why its there. My question is do you think I should cull it or not?

It looks like it is getting worse. With the redness and inflammation I think it is probably painful. I would cull the poor little thing.

You can put it in a paper sack and whack it against a wall. That way you don't have to see it, and it is very swift.

poor lil thing. i had to put out one not much older then that once. so sad.

Personally I'd take a sharp tipped knife and lance the wound and apply pressure first to see what comes out. Could be a piece of hay stuck in that hole that is walled off from the body which is why the kit looks healthy otherwise. I had it happen to me with a chunk of corn stalk. Thought I got it all out but my leg swelled like a tomato until one day after a shower in frustration I squished the area hard and out squirted a bunch of fluid and a 1" long chunk of corn stalk. I've pulled weeds from cheap hay out of similar wounds on horses as well.

sounds painful, couldn't it kill the kit?

Only if there's a major blood vessel grown in to the area and then you'll know it's something serious and the kit will likely bleed out solving the problem of putting it down. Odds are though it's just puss or fluid. Yes it hurts a little but I've cut in to myself and pets over such things often enough I can tell you the pain is short lived and the relief from such things is well worth it.

It's paralyzed in the hind legs and has no bladder or bowel control. Obviously this is an exposed spine. Please cull it before it dies of meningitis - a very painful death.

Suggestions are one thing,
but do not allow anyone to make your decisions for you.
You must take charge of the matter and do what YOU feel is best!
If that rabbit were mine I would put it out of it's misery
before things become worse, but it's not my decision,
it is yours. I hope you do what is right for you and your rabbit.
