Satinsrule: I agree with you on Klubertanz....just trying to be diplomatic. I've always gotten better, quicker, cheaper service from Klubertanz than anywhere else.

I've always bought rolls of wire. Never bought pre-cuts. I might check into it the next time I'm looking to build some cages.

The thing I really like that I see from BASS are the triple stacks and the inward swinging doors with the "door hangers". Honestly there are thing I like and dislike for all the companies I've seen and if I were to win the lotto and furnish a barn I would split my order between 2 or 3 companies.

I'm very protective of my hands since they earn my living and I've found that motions requiring strength actually protects my hands from arthritis as fas as I can tell. If your hands are getting sore it's more likely to be muscle soreness than the bones. (sorry to point that out says Obvious Girl )

It's alright, Grumpy! Anybody who knows me will tell you that I get aggravated very quickly, and will spend more money to lessen the aggravation if I can do so. Buying the cages pre-cut and unassembled does that for me much better than trying to cut my own cages from a roll. Imagine cutting for a 24" X 24" X 18" cage section, getting to the floor or top, cutting what you think is the right length or width, then finding after you've cut it that the section of wire you just cut is 1-2" too short. That's me, ;) and it would happen way too often for me. I'm just not patient enough for it, I'll admit it.

After spending yeas typing, and experiencing shooting pains in my wrist, and being unable to hand write for more than 5 minutes without having cramping, I tend to blame repetitive motions for everything. But I'll take your word for it LOL...

I originally bought my cages from Bass. Like was mentioned before, they have 16 gauge floors, and 14 gauge everywhere else, which makes no sense.

After a year and a half the floors were badly bowed and were even bowing between J-clips (which we had put closer than they had said, so it should have been stronger), and some wires were actually breaking.

I recently replaced them with 14 gauge floors from Klubertanz. I even bought floor spreaders just to make sure they didn't sag too much. They don't sag at all, not even in the one cage with two adult rabbits in it, one of which is a NZW! Yes, 14 gauge is a bear to cut, and you might want to get the stuff precut (though some on here have used other tools like a sawsall (reciprocating saw) to cut the wire. But it is worth it.

It was a lot of work, and I was wishing I had just spent the little bit of extra to begin with. 18 months. :groooan:

At least I was able to make babysaver panels out of the old floors. :?

See a physiotherapist, it helped me a lot. I groom dogs and cats, my hands take a beating day and day out and since I want to keep doing it for a very long time my physiotherapist is on speed dial.
