Is it possible to breed a broken ND (specifically blue) to a chinchilla ND?
Can any brokens cross with chinchilla?
I'm new at genetics, so any help is appriciated!

Edit: Sorry, this is kind of turning out to be a color question thread!!!

you can breed any rabbit to any rabbit (within reason), what matters is what you might get out of it.

What is your end goal?

you can cross any colours you like

A chinchilla to a broken blue will likey produce chestnut and broken chestnut, possible black and broken black as well as other colours depending on what the parents secretly carry in their genes

@ladysown, Haha, very true! I forgot to specify my goal xD

I would like to get some brokens in a litter with my doe being chin.
I would like the brokens to be blue or black, but another color would be ok. I am open to different chin crossing options.

Just wondering if it is possible to cross chins with brokens (lets say a broken blue).... and get that same color of broken (blue) in the litter?
And brokens are showable, correct? As long as the color that is broken is accepted?

@Dood, Thanks, thats really helpful!

as Dood says.. .mostly like to get chestnuts and blacks in both broken and solid, possibly some chins.. depends on what's behind their colours... and what shade chinchilla you have.

a blue chinchilla x with blue MIGHT get you blues. :) MIGHT.. though I've personally not had that success with my hollands.. I got chestnut and black and one odd ball kit that was a "go figure". :)

I bred a broken black Rex to a chin and got blue, castor (chestnut), opal, black, and broken black.

"Broken" is just the spotting gene. It is best to keep within the color crossing guidelines, but breeding broken to solid is standard procedure.

Is there anything I can cross with my chinchilla doe to get oranges, fawns, blues, lilacs, and the broken varieties of those? Not in the same litter of course :) :hmm:

Thanks all! :D :D
