Now that we are getting closer to finishing our Rabbit Palace, I've been looking at contacting different breeders in my area. But what should I be asking them?

I've also called around and found a vet who treats rabbits, for $180 she will neuter bunny, this includes the first check up, pain meds, and the follow up appointment. Is this a reasonable price and are there any questions I should be asking her?

Thank you in advance for helping me with these newbie questions.

questions to ask

how big will bunny get?
Can you see the parents?
What kind of things are problems in your rabbitry?
what are you feeding them?
Do you ever lose kits between 6-12 weeks old? Why?

What to check for
- clean eyes, nose, no matting on front legs
- clean rear end, no matted poop
- Good teeth
- proper gender (unless that matters not to you)
- no broken bones, missing parts (ie shorter than should be ears, missing tail) UNLESS the breeder mentions them.

Make sure you get a sample of the feed bunny is on.

Are you going to have one bunny or several ? ... If just one , why go to the expense of neutering ?!

Eventually hubby wants to get a flemish giant or an English lop, so just a preventive measure.
