I have this crazy bunny. She hates to be touched and will try anyway to get free. Only way to hold her is away from your body LOL. Anyway she was bred at her old owners place. She built a big pretty nest pulled hair and everything. But there was no babies not blood anywhere. I waited tell day 40 thinking the owners got the date wrong and nothing. I cant palpate and she will kick and buck and every other thing to get free. Soo i threw her in with my buck and she bred. So do some does pull a ton of hair just because they see a nest box? I plan to save that hair she pulled for later.

She may have had a false pregnancy.

Sometimes it is just a one time thing and sometimes a doe has them frequently and her bloodline could be prone to it like in my one bloodline if American Chinchillas - every doe is a pain in the butt to get pregnant and just when I think she finally is its a false one :groooan:

Did the breeder say why she wanted this doe out of her barn or why she wwas up for sale?

If not then it might be because of this problem

Some of mine pull hair within a week of breeding. They pull more when they actually make the nest. Try holding the rabbit with your arm under her body between all 4 legs, rabbit's rear at your elbow and your hand holding her chest. Your other arm can stabilize. Hold her against your body. It sounds bad with a rabbit that fights to get away but they fight because they feel out in the open and have nothing to grip with their feet. Your body helps them feel they have some cover even with the legs hanging. If you cannot manage to keep that hold turn the rabbit up and back so it is being held like a baby and lower the head to a little lower than it's rear, feet sticking up. For some reason that position calms the most difficult rabbit and it's how I trim all my rabbits' nails and check teeth. If the head is not the lowest part you don't get the same calming effect unless the rabbit is very used to being held.
