Our French Angora doe Matilda finally got to meet a buck. She lifted so high he couldn't find "it"!

It was soooo funny! He is use to does that only half co-operate so when she lifted so high he didn't know what to do

But they got the job done in the end.

I wonder what colors they will have? She is calli marked and he is a gold tipped steel NZ. The kits will just be for meat but its always fun to see nice colors in the nest box.

lol sounds like she would be a match for my buck Orion. When he spends time with the girls he hops in a way that he starts in the middle of thier back. I always have to push his little rump down before he can find them :p

We have a sad little girl today, her treasured Matilda only had one kit, on the wire, dead when she found it. :(

Shall give her a week on just hay and try again.

I have learned one thing about French Angora rabbits by having Matilda........

They get fat on AIR!!!

She eats less than any rabbit I have, never eats more than a whisp or two of hay and feels like a solid meat brick.

She will be bred in conjunction with a proven doe so if she has a singleton again I can foster it. I REALLY want this thriftiness in my breeding project bunnies.

Awww so sorry she lost her kit. I've read on here several times to rebreed a day or two after a lost litter because they are often more receptive and to increase litter size. Just a thought. Hope she does better next time. :)

If I knew her kindling ability better I would breed her today but I had another doe who started out - another rescue doe - having one or two and then three or four days later, having four or more kits to add to the first batch.

No more kits today though so in a day or three she will go back to the buck.

Really glad the other doe I bred teh same day had her litter, I was starting to think he was shooting heat blanks!
