Trees were not an obstacle to my akita when she was young. She'd go flying right up the trunk for 6-8' before falling back down. Nearly caught those dang squirrels but finally as she got older she gave it up. She doesn't run up trees anymore. She just climbs fences.

I'll see you a screen door and raise a 5 ft diameter tree! No joke, had a blood hound hot on the scent of her border collie brother make it under the bottom wire of the fence & then smack head first into the big ole cottonwood. The tree was fine...and so was the dog.

Wow, he must have been REALLY intent on what he was doing to miss a tree! But ouch :D

She has decided to only tell my husband when she needs to go pee and to lay there pretending to sleep until it can't hold it anymore while I'm home alone. Accident 1 happened on the bed and my exclammation caused her to run across the bed and over the bedroom floor and dog blankets while still peeing. Good thing it was early in the day so I got most stuff washed before bed. Accident 2 I smelled when I got done with some rabbit chores and found her licking up whatever hadn't soaked in to the blanket she was laying on. No nothing is physically wrong with her that western medicine can find. We go through stages like this in moments of stress or just unknown logic. She's been tested before for all sorts of urinary tract problems and put on pills for awhile twice. Behavioral therapy has been explored to some degree but little logic could be applied to most of her behavior. There were only a few predictable incidents mainly with vet trips. Josh says with all the crazy animals we have here we just need to legalize marijuana for recreational use and constantly burn it in our condo for everyone.
