Hey all...

Well, both of the new does are doing great. :D The largest doe is back up to a good weight, and the little doe is catching up. When I brought them home, I started offering 1 cup of bunny pellets (had to go cold turkey because the woman I got them from didn't sell them with any food, and stated that she went with whatever was on sale so there was no set brand), free-choice grass hay, after a couple of days I added in Manna-Pro... 'bout a quarter of a teaspoon every other day until they were up to 1.5tsp a day, and I've been introducing fresh greens as well. So far they've had Cilantro, Dandelion from the yard, and Parsley. All poops have been normal despite the stress and food changes. Oh, I've also been adding Raw Apple Cider Vinegar to their water (which they LOVE).

Once the largest doe hit a good looking/feeling weight, I dropped her Manna-Pro down to 1tsp per day but continued at one cup of pellets, the grass, and the greens. She finishes her pellets by the end of the day, eats her greens with gusto as well as her hay. She seems content and not constantly hungry.

The little doe, however, finishes her pellets by mid day (complete with licking up the crumbs), she polishes off her greens, and eats tons of hay. I've kept her at 1.5tsp of the Manna-Pro, and she's continuing to gain. However, I was wondering if I should increase her daily pellet amount. I'm pretty darn sure she's pregnant, and on top of that she's in the process of healing from a colony injury. I don't know if I'm over-thinking this, or falling victim to her cute googly little eyes. Need some opinions! :D

The best person to gauge this is you.

Put your hands on her and see if she is continuting to build muscle
- if she is slowly filling in more muscle each day then don't increase her ration
- if she seems to have stalled and is getting bigger in the belly but not meatier then increase her pellets.

Some rabbits just like to eat :D a lot !

I have doe who always acts like she is starving, but she is actually one of my 'plumpest'. She gets free choice grass hay and plenty of greens in the summer but only 2/3 cup pellets day and I cannot free feed her pellets when her kits arrive as she'll gorge herself and put on excess fat, she is hard enough to get pregnant as it is.

Thanks, Dood! I was feeling her this morning, and it's her belly that's getting bigger, but not really the rest of her. I'll watch her for another day and see if it's just the belly that's growing and go from there. Thanks!!!
