you live in Texas. RVHD2 is a concern. I'd be super careful about anything wild rabbit or greens. Good way to wipe out your herd.

That's just how I've always washed produce. I know it can kill off salmonella, e. coli, and some other sources of illness. Now that I think more deeply about it, you're correct that it likely would not kill a virus.

Perhaps a rinse with ethyl or a soak in hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes would be better. Those are definitely disinfectants. I think of the two, I'd opt for the peroxide. It's good for killing mould as well. Just rinse it well before serving.

According to PubMed, Hydrogen Peroxide inactivates all viruses within 1--30 min. It killed Coronavirus in one minute at a concentration of .5% . Math not being my subject, that sounds like about 1 teaspoon per quart of water??
It's also supposed to be excellent at killing bacteria and fungi so sounds like it would be a good addition to soak water for fodder.

I don't do math either, but here's a chart I found for diluting H2O2 to .1%. I suppose if you want .5%, you just multiply the amt H2O2 by 5. It's for nebulizing (hence the use of normal saline instead of plain water). If you want to increase the end quantity, for washing greens, you'll have to do some maths, but you'll be able to go on from here, I think.

They say the RHDV2 virus can last for several months outside of a host. Which means it can be just about anywhere. If someone walks across an infected area and then walks across the grass, is it possible to transfer the virus?

Is is possible to grow bushes for them to eat? We grow mulberry for our buns and the leaves are way up off the ground so hopefully that would keep them from being contaminated?
