Why would anyone in texas be concerned with AR people, in a texas you have the right to protect you and yours on your own property. What next?,Underground secret rabbit sales? Dont be afraid , stand up for your rights.

From talking to a lot of people , i see a lot of them are starting to raise rabbits for meat because they think times will get really hard.....WEll, News Flash, If times get hard, and you have food(rabbits), your gonna need to be able to protect it, or someone will take it away from you.

Oh, we are WELL aware of that Toasted...it's the folks that come when we ARE NOT here to protect it that concern us....

__________ Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:59 am __________

If your rabbits are well cared for ,the armed deputies are not gonna take your rabbits.

Not true....one random complaint and an uninformed AC officer can mean the confiscation of your herd...and all your other animals too.

According to WHOSE definition of "well cared for"?? Yours? Or the House Rabbit Society's? They consider cages and keeping rabbits outdoors to be ABUSE! PETA and HSUS believe that ALL animal ownership is abuse, and want to eliminate domestication of animals! If they're the ones reporting you to AC (as well as accompanying those deputies to your place), what do you think the deputies are going to do?

Animal control officers, sheriff's deputies, and police officers are (in most cases) in NO way informed as to proper and acceptable rabbit care. They confiscate first and refer you to the judge. And don't expect to get them back unaltered, even if you are cleared completely of all wrongdoing.

You might want to rethink your position.

THIS!! It's already happening all over the country, including Texas.

Well i understand there are isolated incidents where the law has confiscated rabbits when maybe they shouldnt have. But most everything i see in the news, where the law was the one doing it, they have pictures to back up the unheathy living conditions the animals were living in.And the incidents i have seen were set up like puppy mills,Pet breeders , that were not taking care of thier animals.

I visited a rabbitry recently that was totally disgusting in my opinion. I would understand i the law got involved and confiscated her rabbits. But, shes proud of her rabbits, and believes shes taking good care of them.,,,shes not,,,,,should i report her?

Im not going to , but i believe that anyone that cares about animals should be telling me ,YES, report it.

The thing is , there has to be a happy medium in there that everyone can live with ,, and if you live your life almost in hiding from AR because you fear them, they will just become more powerful.

Why are you believing what you saw on the news? The news media is completely biased, gets all of their information on rabbit care from HRS, PETA, and HSUS, and will purposely and knowingly show everything in the worst possible light so they can sell stories. The fact that "the law" was involved means NOTHING.

Are the rabbits healthy, happy, and in good condition themselves? If so, then anyone else's opinion of the "conditions", especially at one isolated moment in time, is immaterial.

Unfortunately, that's not possible. PETA and HSUS will not rest until ALL animal ownership (including livestock, zoos, pets, everything) is OUTLAWED. They have publicly stated that many times as their goal. There's NO happy medium in that, and I for one refuse to live with that.

You don't live in fear, you live on guard. Like everything else. Caution is the order of the day, mum is the word.

Why invite trouble if you can avoid it. I used to ignore it too, till animal control showed up at my door. I live within city limits, there are so many things I could get in trouble for if my neighbors really had it in for me. I don't make enough money to have state of the art, there are some makeshift things, perhaps not up to par but clean (there are picts on my website) but someone could find fault and I could get into trouble. Animals being animals, they work against me.
