Time of day for breeding?

I'm curious if anyone has a preferred time of day for breeding? After or before meals? Early in the day or late? I'm still in my first year raising rabbits and have been successful with the majority of breeding but this is something I have wondered about. Thanks for any insight!

I usually do it in the afternoon, not because of the time of day but when I have the most time to do it

I've found early morning breedings have been more successful than evening. In the evening, the does aren't as cooperative for some reason.

Interesting. I have a young doe that is not being receptive. Maybe she needs more time but I will try morning next time. I usually do evening for my convenience sake.

At morning feeding, I put doe in bucks cage, keep an eye on them (2 fall offs and no panic/agression), then leave them together for 1-2 hours before putting them back in their own cages and feeding them.
Going from assumption that does don't pee in the bucks cage and therefore not get pregnant even after succesfull breeding. Much easier then watching doe for another 30 minutes or so after a succesfull "speeddate".

I have found that rabbits breed like rabbits. If they're in the mood, and they usually are, then they could care less what time of day it is. If they're not in the mood ??? then it doesn't matter what time of day it is.

Unless it’s hot out, I find that time of the day doesn’t usually seem to matter to me.

I didn't realize the doe peeing afterwards was a problem. Good to know!

I breed whenever I have time to. Like others have said as long as they are “in the mood” they will breed.

With that said, rabbits are crepuscular, meaning they are most active seeing dawn and dusk. So if you are having trouble breeding try this. Feed at 6:30 A. M. (Or at sun rise) So they have some energy and try breeding 15 mins after they have gotten food.
