ok i'm wondering if anyone knows of anything that might get cats sick if they eat the rabbit that suddenly died of it. i still dont know what "it" is.

thread on the sudden death rabbits is here:

on the cat... he is acting normal. one day there was a poop on a couch cushion but since my sister has a puppy who isnt fully trained we thought it was him. then the other day the cat was on the couch sleeping beside my dad. and then the cat randomly wakes up and is growling... at nothing... and then he moves and starts licking himself (crotch) like mad, and my dad who'd had his hand near the cat, had some loose poo on part of his hand. the cats bottom had brushed his hand as the cat moved.

that was two days ago i think. and today he was laying on the couch fine... and i was laying on the couch waiting for someone to show up and he was at the other end... and he starts the growling again... after about a minute he ran off to the litterbox and had a very grumpy time. for a few minutes he was in there just growling and soundin like he was lickin himself like mad again...

the reason i see a possible connection is because we burn our trash. so naturally the dead rabbits got burned since they had died mysteriously.
well yesterday i saw a cat running around with something. i didnt really think about it. they are farm cats even if they rarely go after anything other then moles which are never eaten.
but today i found a part of a burned rabbit that had been eaten off. we do have coons and possums but they are all sleepin this time of year. and if it would have been a possum or coon i would have just found bones.

so... anyone?

Does your cat regularly get rabbit to eat?

If it does, maybe it's a reaction to the burnt part? If not, maybe a reaction to the new food?

If it lasts much longer, I would have the cat checked.

Hope the cat gets better :)

no the cats dont get rabbit. i've hardly had any to butcher let alone give it to the durned cats...
i'm not really a cat person. i like them but i dont like them around all the time, not a pet i want to care for all the time. plus we have too darn many. useless barn cats that dont even go in the barns.

but anyhow... no if they ever get rabbit its from stuff they picked out of the trash. but its usually burned soon as it goes outside and gets burned well so not really anything to eat. must not have this time though.

him and his sister have had some raw venison and chicken before. but just little peices. and they get dinner scraps and different foods all the time. never had a problem before.

Maybe the meat was just too rich (or too burnt) for the cat.

Hopefully, he will be fine.
